External usb dvd drive no longer detected after update

after an update a couple days ago, my usb dvd drive is no longer detected. it was working a couple of days ago. not listed in lsblk

Just a quick quesrion. How old is the DVD drive? I only ask as my Tevion external DVD stopped working a few months back, made in 2009. Bought a new one.

Have you tried booting an older kernel from grub menu item "Advanced Options for Zorin". Select a kernel generic version other than a 6.17 kernel and boot that. People have been having problems with 6.17. kernel.

Yes. That worked when I switched to 16.17.0-14 (generic) [the only other version was 16.17.0-19]. Thank you!
