Recently got a notice from Facebook they took down a post I did earlier this month about Zorin. It said, "The content may facilitate the sharing, creation or hosting of malicious software." All I did was link DistroWatch's page on Zorin to encourage people on my friends list to switch to Zorin. Weird. Have appealed the removal.
Facebook also recently announced that they would no longer permit fact-checking.
Yup. Heard about that, too. Messed up.
How did the appeal go? I know its only been a short time but I hope you got the post reinstated.
It's across the whole linux community affected by FB thinks it's malicious. That's what I can see across the groups.
And this... is why I don't use Facebook. Seriously.
Linux is NOT in any way malicious software like the greedy corporate overlords (like Meta) want us to think.
FB also thinks I have no friends
Thank goodness I'm ...
The thing is you can create your own social network using free software, there is no need to rely on that Zucker Sucker or Elon the colon.
Hold on. You can?
There was a whole article on it in LXF some years ago.

Facebook themselves are Malware, and especially Windows 11 24H2 is! There was a time in history, before GenZ was around, that this country fault back against virus's and malware. Now days, corporations run rampid stealing people's data, and selling it to China, and get away with it scott free.
Facebook knows that Linux means freedom, so they have to slander it, to keep people from switching. They want to lock an entire society down to data collection, cause that has been the biggest game of the century, right along the newest pitch, of shoving AI down our throats.
Its all about money folks, and companies want to keep us locked down, so we pay hard, either with our data, or through subscription fees. If you don't believe me, watch all of Louis Rossman's latest video's, over the past year, and you will learn just how bad it truly is.
I don't trust Facebook with a 10-foot pole, and neither should you.
This is why I plan on creating a social media platform that doesn't collect data for profit. And one that actually supports freedom.
Social media platforms are not all that difficult to create. It's the scaling up to millions of daily active users that is challenging, but you can create your own if you really want to.
I don't think that FOSS is really the problem. There's Mastodon (Twitter), Pixelfed (Instagram), Lemmy (Reddit) and others, that are built using FOSS. But social media remains social media... there is some value to them, for sure, but at the end of the day is just a big popularity contest.
Isn't that what Mastodon is, or attempts to be? A federated service so you can run your own server on the network that you are in full control of. And if you are on somebody else's server you can freely download all your data from it and upload elsewhere.
At least thats what I've read (via possibly too many Cory Doctorow articles).
I don't in fact use any social media. I just never 'got' it. I know who my friends are.
Indeed. I think I live under a rock.
Update:
They denied my appeal. Ridiculous.
Yeah, screw Facebook.
