I can see you posted pictures of Pheonix BIOS earlier in this thread. Please continue to post screenshots/photos to illustrate what is displayed on your screen and giving you an issue.
Oh - no, no. Not yours. Diana's. She shared her e-mail (zorin@diananet.net) in her original post. Out of curiosity, I looked at the domain (www.diananet.net). What a trip down memory lane.
That gave me a big SMILE!
That was the very first webpage that I ever designed.
That was like 1993!
The DO IT NOW was a deliberate act to aggravate all the local guys that were watching my every move back then. That line gave me a million huge smiles! I just can't part with it.. lol I did support myself for many years designing websites while paying off the mortgage on my home. Haven't designed one in years now but some of my old ones are still online. This one might give you a smile... dfainc.us
I don't get a stationary screen... even with the usb in place, it continues to load the 15.3 ... in that process a screen flashes with the computer emblem and you see the F12. I will try my best to get a picture of that to put here.
Usernames are case sensitive and lowercase, so your command will be:
passwd diana
Thanks for that insight there. I will have to try that again. THANK YOU!!!
Thank You for that!
A couple really interesting things today...
As you can see in previous photo above.. I changed the boot order to:
Removable
CDROM
Hard Disk
Nvidia Boot Age (Whatever that is)
..... After I saved it ... it shows up different in the Boot Menu above...
I hadn't paid attention to the F12 being available to click after you click the F10 to save and exit from Phoenix.
I decided to click it to see what would happen and the above Boot Menu showed up.
But the order isn't correct according to the way I set them up. Which makes me wonder about the last item in the left hand list that says "Reset Configuration Data" ... it is set to Disabled... should I see if i can enable it?
I am assuming since it left me change the order of the Boot items that my password there is for Admin....???
Do me a favor. Put in an USB stick. Reboot. Get to that same screen you took a picture of (where it says, "select a boot first device"). Does it list the USB stick? EDIT: Wait. Please open where it says, "+ Removable." Take a picture of what comes up. Thanks. Also, please still put in an USB stick while doing this.
Me too! lol
You say put a usb stick in... a empty stick or one with 17.3 on it??
I am there ... it doesn't open up ... the up and own arrows will move it to the different positions and you can enter to select a new position but that is all I can see that can be done there.
I did do this ... it doesn't open up... you can move it up and down to different position and enter to select the new position.
I just discovered that my cdrom is actually a LabelFlash Multi R DL RW DVD Ultra Speed. I saw the following Ch 3 M: ATAPI DVD A DH16A6S
Hi Diana, BIOS screens have never got updated. They always list CD-ROM even when it's a DVD-RW that is present. You might do better to burn a DVD of 17.3 Pro provided it is less than 4.4 Gb. An alternative might be to install Core via DVD and see if you can upgrade from that and point to the .iso of 17.3 Pro. At least you can put in a help request to Team Zorin about this as I am getting a bit lost. I am also wondering if you need to update the BIOS but usually that needs Windows. Here is something else to try. You don't have USB listed, so wondering if BIOS might see it as an HDD instead of removable. I must admit yours is the first BIOS that I have ever seen with 'Removable' in the menu.
I can't find a reference to USB any where which is really strange when this pc has 8 usb ports.
The iso file for 17.3 PRO is over 7.5 GB.
I will go back to where I saw the info on the DVD tomorrow and see if I can find anything about HDD's there.
I will see if I can find any info on upgrading from core to the PRO too.
Thanks for always being there to help me!
I don't know what happened or how it happened but something very strange indeed has happened and I will need you guys to explain it to me. I am preparing photos to add to this now.
Don't understand where you want it but here it is.
