Gnome-software (Software)

I just have Zorin 17.3 as a VM to check things out when they get raised. I removed Software altogether, just use Synaptic Package Manager. When wanting to check if some package was in Software, I reinstalled it (gnome-software via terminal) and spotted that it pulls in Snap by default. I quickly uninstalled gnome-software and snap is thankfully gone!

I found this thread. It shows how you can deactivate snaps.

Hi Forpli, I actually wrote how to remove Flatpak and Snap in Tutorials and Guides here:

I much prefer Synaptic as you are certain you will only get APT packages. It's also another reason why I prefer PCLOS and PCLOS Debian.

That is normal. You could try it with sudo apt install --no-install-recommends gnome-software and then it should only install gnome-software without Snap.

Nope. I much prefer Synaptic. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

When you like it, use it.
