I have problems with Nautilus; when there are mounted drives, the file explorer doesn't open. I would like to know if this is an isolated problem or a general issue with the version.
Thats a strange issue to have that I haven't experienced in OS 16, so it likely is OS 18 specific.
I'd like you to enter terminal CTRL ALT T
Type nautilus
Please post any errors you receive from it.
For now, to get you going, will try installing another file explorer, that is a known good one, lets install Nemo.
Launch Nemo, try it out
sudo apt-get install nemo
Try sudo apt reinstall nautilus to reinstall Nautilus.
Happens that with every mounted Driver or only with a specific one?
Hello,
I had the same problem. The proposal from @Ponce-De-Leon was the solution for me.
I just ran sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, and apparently the problem was fixed. I have several drives mounted and everything is working fine.
I saw that the version of GNOME and Nautilus was updated; did any of those updated packages include the bug fix?
Have the same problem but this solution not solving my case. Specialy when mounted pendrive is runing from desktop icon in zorin 18 pro.
I'm struggling with Nautilus too. If I try to open it, it just won't. Reinstalling it doesn't change anything, packets are up to date according to apt update.
When I try opening nautilus from terminal it shows this error:
"Connecting to org.freedesktop.Tracker3.Miner.Files
Failed to register: Zeitüberschreitung wurde erreicht (GER: timelimit reached)"
Can anyone help me fix any of this? nautilus is so deeply embedded, it breaks a lot if it won't open reliably.
Thanks!
PS: I'm on Zorin 18 core and kinda new to the game. I've done some Linux before, but trying to set up my new main/productive system here.
Thanks to @Nourpon I found the solution: Nautilus (file manager) in Zorin 18 randomly stuck and thumbnails problem
crush "said solution not solving my case. Specialy when mounted pendrive is runing from desktop icon in zorin 18 pro"
Does 18Pro support not cover that? Just wondering?
