How to install Zorin OS desktops on Debian (or replicate the exact look)

Hello,

I have a Debian system with GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce, and Cinnamon desktops installed.
Honestly, the default GNOME on Debian is very bad, and I want to install Zorin OS's GNOME desktop instead. Xfce is also not good, and I would like to replace it with the Zorin Lite desktop.

Is it possible to install Zorin OS desktops directly on Debian? If not, what is the best way to replicate the exact look and feel (layouts, themes, icons, extensions) on both GNOME and Xfce in Debian?

Thanks.

There is are no "Zorin Desktop" packages that do what you want. Instead, Zorin uses (in part) a number of custom gnome shell extensions only available through Zorin OS.

So, the best you can do is cobble together available Gnome Shell extensions in Debian 13, but it will not be the exactly the same in look or functionality.

You can take a look at @Abdulhalim topics in his profile. He has tried that on Debian.
You can't install the zorin core or lite desktop on debian, but e.g. the Zorin gtk theme and icon theme or wallpaper and install some extensions to create a similar look.
I think it also depends which Debian version you're running (12 or 13).

That is the Vanilla Gnome Desktop without any Adjustments or Customizations.

The Zorin Desktop is a modified/customized Gnome Desktop. You can do Stuff to get similar Layouts on Debian, too. But it needs some Work. You would need several Gnome Extensions. For Theming ... You could try to copy the Themes and Icons from a Zorin Live Session and then put it in Debian. But if this works is not sure because Zorin uses a different Gnome Version.

For the Gnome Extensions, You would need:

  • User Themes
  • KStatusNotifier and AppIndicator
  • Removable Drives
  • Printers
  • Desktop Icons (Desktop Icons NG or GTK4 Desktop Icons NG; I prefer the last)
  • Dash To Dock
  • Dash To Panel
  • ArcMenu

These are the most needed. Depending what Options/Functions You want, more can be neccessary.

thank you !!!

I use debian 13
