Install Zorin

You have to apologize for my ignorance, but I intend to buy a mini PC, and now the question comes. Can i stick a USB with zonin on and install it directly in a mini PC that is dos operatin or I need one with OS (assuming OS meant by windows)

Yes, you can use a Stick with Zorin OS and install it without any other OS on it or override the existing OS that may be on the computer.

When You already have a USB Stick with Zorin on it, You can do that. Plug it in, start it and install Zorin.

But before Installation, I would suggest to take a Look in the BIOS first to check if Secure Boot and Fast boot are disabled.

Ok thanks a lot! I'll wait for the new Zorin 18 and install it.
On my current laptop SecureBoot is on and Zorin works fine, haven't had any problems, but fastboot I'm not sure about.

Okay, when it runs, it runs. But for the Case that there should be something, You could try it with disabling Secure Boot then.

I'll have to remember that. I've seen that people have had problems with Secure Boot.

Hi, I installed it with Windows without deleting anything, it just creates a partition with the Windows utility called Disk Manager and shrinks the partition where Windows goes. You can assign half of the partition to it. This will create a new partition. Rename it and assign it a name and write down the size. Because when you install Zorin, Zorin's disk manager is called GParted, I think it's a bit confusing for those of us who come from Windows. You must burn a live USB with a program called Rufus. You can also burn from Zorin itself with an app called Balena, which is simpler, but I think Rufus is better if you install on Windows since it solves the boot type, etc., see a YouTube tutorial, everything is there.

Some basic pre-installation advice can be found here: Before you install

Thanks for the answers! now I'm not a new user of zorin, I just want to buy a PC without windows because I hate it. I've been using Zorin since version 16.
What I was trying to find was a PC without windows preinstalled

If you are going for a NUC I would do some online research. Linux hardware manufacturers sometimes offer notebooks without an OS.

From Zorin computer link:

Swarf. There are a lot of repeated paragraphs in your post above. It could benefit from an edit. Zab

Sorted.

That was a harsh edit. I was only expecting you to remove duplicated paragraphs

Thought it made better sense as these guys sell hardware with Zorin pre-installed if preferred. I do have reservations about Thunderbolt and security issues there I raised in the Unofficial Manuals for Zorin 15 and 17 which the NUCs have.

System76 and Tuxedo Computers sell PC's/Laptops with Linux preinstalled. Depending on Your Location, maybe one of these could be something for You.

The firmware for most pre-installed Linux is still UEFI designed for Windows - though system76 have built their own firmware
