I am trying to install Zorin-OS-17.1-Core-64-bit-r2.iso (written on a pendrive with Rufus using a windows machine), on a pendrive connected to a MACBook Air 11-inch 2011 (ultimately, I will do it on the hard disk but there are still some mac programs that I need and do not have space for a dual boot).
I am following:
(thus using 2 pendrives, the one I want for the installation is exFAT 128GB).
Selecting Trying and using the terminal, these are my filesystems:
After selecting "Something else" as told in the video,
I get to the partition table , I get a cold sweat and do not know what to do: I do not know how to select the pendrive in which I want to install Zorin.
This is what I see:
Clearly your 480 Gb is your MacBook's hdd (SSD?). You state you are using two thumb drives. You say one is 128 Gb. The 3.2 Gb partition is referring to the .iso of Zorin.
If you are just wanting to boot off one USB with Zorin and the other with data I would use the Windows Machine to use Ventoy on the smaller USB to install Zorin on the 128 Gb pendrive. To avoid any errors, once you have created the the Ventoy thumb drive on Windows PC, shut down the machine and disconnect the Windows hard drive. Insert both the Ventoy USB, and the 128 Gb drive you want to install to.
As Zorin is a fork of Ubuntu, follow the commands given for Ubuntu.
Please note I have never used persistence as it shortens the life of the pen drive. For me, if I wanted to go down a similar route I would just use Ventoy to boot Zorin in live mode each time and save any files created to a second thumb drive.
No, no. I was not clear enough. The pendrive with zorin is for the installation only. Then I want zorin in the 2nd pendrive with persistence. After the installation I would use only one pendrive. Later, I hope to go to an installation in the internal drive before the pendrive dies.
