Using the "Try Zorin OS" option, I have found that a 2nd 128 GB pendrive
is not mounted when inserted. I have tried inserting the pendrive formatted as exFAT and as NTFS.
The pendrive is not displayed by either Disks or GParted tools.
This is the reason why I was not seeing the expected partitions when trying to install Zorin to the 2nd pendrive in Installing Zoring on old Mac (to a live pendrive): partition table, which could be closed (I have tried to close it but cannot find how to).
Pendrives <=64GB formatted as FAT or extFAT do work on the same USB port.
How can I get this second 128 GB pendrive available for the installation?
I'm struggling to understand the question and what you're trying to achieve.
"Try Zorin", on a USB pen drive is just inside the pen drive, before you can do anything meaningful, you have to install Zorin OS, either in a partition / dual boot, as the main OS or in a virtual machine.
It's just like a virtual experience - anything you in the "try Zorin" will be lost as it never really existed. it's just for you to play with and see if you like it before you install it.
Before actually installing Zorin to the hard drive, I want to try Zorin from a persistent pendrive for a few weeks, and before that, I am just trying without persistence.
One way of achieving a persistent installation on a pendrive
involves using 2 pendrives (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vFkq1Vao28&t=4s).
My problem was that the 2nd pendrive was not mounted.
In order to find out why the 2nd pendrive was not mounted, I booted from the live pendrive and once reached the Welcome screen, I selected "Try Zorin OS" and inserted a 2nd pendrive in my second USB port. If the pendrive was <= 64 GB, no problem: the pendrive was mounted and I could browse its content. But when I inserted a 128 GB pendrive (which is the one I would like to use for the persistent installation), the pendrive was not mounted, it actually was not seen by Zorin.
Nevertheless, I have formatted again the 128 GB pendrive on a Windows machine using exFAT and unselecting "quick formatting", and Zorin can now mount that pendrive without problems. So it was just a problem with a bad formatting of the pendrive.
