Good day,
after using ZorinOS for a couple of months now i experineced a kernel panic while booting. I fixed it with booting an older Version.
Now, even the older Version has Problems. It's loading the Version and ramdisk...
But prints errors and is never done loading.
Are the basic pre-installation checks good? See: Before you install
What graphics card/s do you have?
Are you able to boot into Recovery option from grub menu?
Are you able to boot from your ZorinOS USB in "Try Zorin" mode?
Thank you for the reply.
The basic pre-installation checks seem good.
I am using the nvidia 4060 for graphics.
I am able to boot ZorinsOS via USB.
Are Secure Boot and Fast Boot in BIOS disabled? If Windows is still installed: Is Fast Start-Up in Windows disabled?
Have you run a S.M.A.R.T. (test) on the drive?
Spreading failing sectors could match what you describe.
Yes. Everything is disabled.
Smart test turned out good as far as i can see:
Well, the good news is that it is not a failing drive, then.
If this is a PC (with case), I would check the cable connection to the driver to make sure both ends are secure, in case of I/O faults.
Are you using LVM?
What is your terminal output for (You can use the Recovery Mode terminal):
sudo vgscan
sudo vgchange -ay
sudo lvscan
My Drive is directly connected to the motherboard.
Trying to Boot into Recovery Mode is not possible:
The screenshot you have shows you in a shell - can you tap enter and run the commands from there?
When i try to load into recovery mode it never finishes (currently 13 hours in loading).
It should load in under a minute.
All of the above suggests that something in root is corrupted.
Probably not due to any disk error.
Had you backed up your data?
