Under File System/ezorb/root folder has a Red X and core folder has a Red X
What does the Red X mean or is their something wrong?
Will install CPU today.
HELP................Installed new CPU and on boot Got the below. We are Dual Boot Windows10Is this TPM what is needed in CPU to upgrade to Windows?. Do I answer Y or N.
Here is TPM stuff:
New CPU installed, ftpm/psp nv corrupted or structure changed.
Press Y to reset ftpm, if you have BitLocker orencryption enabled, system will not boot without recovery key.
Press N to keep previous ftpm record and cpmtinue system boot, ftpm will not enable in new CPU, you can swap back to the old CPU to recover tpm related keys and data.
Windows 11 upgrade does require TPM to be enabled.
Microsoft calls this necessary for security. In reality, TPM also contains a backdoor allowing Microsoft access to your machine remotely.
Microsoft claims that this is necessary so that Microsoft employees can assist you.
Have you ever had Microsoft openly say that they are remote accessing your machine in order to help you?
I leave these decisions to the user.
Here is a lengthy and in depth guide that may help you to navigate this issue on your Windows OS side:
Are you saying N then I will be able to boot in Zorin? and boot in Windows 10?
If you are not using Bitlocker then you can hit the y
key to reset fTPM.
If you are using Bitlocker, you should not hit the y
key but follow the instructions in the guide. If you hit y
and you are using BitLocker, then you could potentially lose access to your Windows OS and Data.
How can I know about BitLocker?
If you can log into Windows:
In order to access Windows, simply press N in the error screen.
Type cmd in Windows search
Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
When User Account Control shows up, click Yes
Once in the new window, paste the following command:
manage-bde -status
Hit Enter
Check the Conversion Status and Percentage Encrypted lines – these should hint whether you are using BitLocker.
If you can't log into Windows:
Restart your computer and interrupt booting sequence three times by pressing and holding Power button each time
Once in Advanced Startup mode, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options
Select Command Prompt
Now run the command manage-bde -status command via Command Prompt.
By entering N will I be able to boot from Dual menul to get into LITE
I honestly have no idea... I believe that you should be able to, but Zorin OS will need to reconfigure a bit for the new cpu
I guess I luck out. I first hit N it just loop back to where I was then hit N again same thing happened. The next time hit Y then finally got Zorin dual boot Menu. Selected Zorin and it booted up.
I don't know what will happen if I select Windows. I will try by letting it default to Zorin a couple of times then may try Windows.
This is only thing wrong. I can also boot into Windows.
I get while booting into Zorin: 28.0971561 ata3: softreset failed (device not ready) does this 2 more times with different numbers then get 118.6585501 then password menu pops up.
Can you start with
sudo lshw -c network
Let's see if the driver needs correction due to the New CPU.
The kernel likely is configured to the old CPU board and chipset. You may have drivers blacklisted that need to be unblacklisted.
I get "ishw comand not found
I thought the L was an i. Sorry I ran the command is this for internet or to fix the numbers while booting. 28.0971561 ata3: softreset failed (device not ready)
and
Under File System/ezorb/root folder has a Red X and core folder has a Red X
What does the Red X mean or is their something wrong?
Internet working now.
Seems now the only problem I have is:
ata3: softreset failed (device not ready)
I just booted again. This time after 3 of softreset failed it gave me a new line that said Reset Failed giving up. next line a number then it booted into Lite.
Does your machine have a CDROM drive? If so, try disconnecting it and booting up.
Yes it does, will do.
You are brilliant what on earth made you think of that?
Now the waiting game to see if the Crashing is over. I can tell a little difference between the two CPU.
One last question on a Browser with about ten tabs that are pined sometimes the Tabs can't find the page they are suppose to open. I have to click on each tab to make them reload.
Boot order- If you replaced the CPU, the system may try to boot from CDROM first, but find only nothing. It needs to initialize and boot at least once in order to properly register the new CPU.
