Can you anyway run the system till reaching the desktop or not at all? Because maybe a simple tweak to keyboard settings would fix. Reading the sixth entry on keyboard failures I see it set 2 keyboards. I did a search for input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input99 and I see many similar results but I'm not sure which to look.
You can change them on Settings > Region and Language, basically you need only 1 keyboard input method to make it work. My default keyboard input method works almost perfectly, you should see IBus on Settings > Region and Language > Manage Installed Languages. To see how keyboard inputs react you can click the eye button under Input Sources so when you press buttons on the keyboard you can see them on the screen. It's just a test, you can close it at any moment.
