Laptop chipset overheating, ports and devices not responding

Hello everyone, I have been using Zorin OS 16 core for some time and really like it, it's dual boot configuration with Windows 10 on separate SSD. However I have encountered some problem. I think that when running Zorin the chipset of my laptop gets much hotter compared to Windows (thechipset has no cooling in my device) despite the laptop being cooler in general. But the serious issue is that if I stress the laptop (for exmple by gaming) it sometimes stops responding. The keyboard, power button, touchpad everything is not responding, even if I close the lid it does not go to sleep, I can only wait until the battery runs out or open the laptop and disconnect the battery, that's when I noticed that the chipset was very hot and started thinking that it may be the reason. Before it only happened when gaming, but yesterday it happened just browsing the web on battery, so the device was not under much load. Does anyone have a sugestion how to fix this, thanks in advance.

It’s not running much of a load as you can see. We may get more relevant results when you’re gaming.

Apart from that, here are my general observations on gaming based on my anecdotal experience:

Linux tends to let games pull more resources than Windows. My little beater laptop has games defaulting their settings to high whenever they’re installed. When it was in Windows, the settings were usually medium or low.
GNOME desktop environment (Core) tends to have intermittent freezing issues compared to XFCE (Lite).

Yes, but last time it happened in similar conditions and I realized that something is probably not right. The worst part is that if it freezes again I have no way to gather any information, because all input is not responding, even USB ports. It never happened under Windows, even when the laptop was under load and hot for long time.

have you been using the installation for a long time. Because judging the specs, your hardware is more than capable to run Zorin Core. Runing a webbrowser should go without problems.

Why I'm asking this is because I have a 8th gen intel nuc. started with Zorin 15.3 and also had problems while running some games (not overheating but rather heated gpu,cpu). When I reinstalled the system, everything went to normal.
Not saying you should, because I'm not aware of the amount of data you have, but its worth considering.

Yes, freeze issues can be tricky. But unless we have data more relevant to your freeze, how can we know what is happening? For example, when I search for your CPU, this was the only freeze issue I could find: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/jiucuu/comment/gj3qd4h/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
I'm guessing that may not even be the same machine as yours and may be a freeze due to a completely different reason.

The issue is that without knowing more about the circumstances, we can only speculate.

You may want to wait and see if someone else has the same machine as yours - they may be able to shed some light.

Speaking of speculation, the only other thing I can think of is to check if you can switch any drivers under Software Updater -> Settings -> Additional Drivers. If there are no options there then disregard this post.

gb62, I think 337harvey has a good point there. When was the last time you updated the bios. Perhaps you should look there first.

Thank you for suggestions. The system is only running for a few months and I did not install too much software, I install updates in the software updater regularly.
I only have the Nvidia graphics drivers in additional drivers.
When it freezes the fans keep spinning as before, no slow down or full power, it seems to be just working as before, but all input is out. I checked the end of logs files from the day of last crash:

I had my GPU fab running constantly on my desktop. Switching drivers under Additional Drivers stopped that. You can try switching to any of the other drivers listed for you to see if it helps.

Clevo...bought a laptop from clevo back in 2011. Everything worked fine until i stressed my cpu/gpu. Got always bsod, changed the rams for a newer one and did not work. I returned to the shop, they "tested" it and gaved it back to me and said there was no errors. So i tried it at home again fired up a game and bsod again. Went back to the shop and told him did you test it with games too ? Did you stress the cpu and gpu ? No he said i only turned the laptop on for a day and it worked fine. After he tried a game he saw what i meant. He returned the laptop to clevo factory, took them 3 weeks to replace the motherboard because that one was faulty.

Short story, i bought a laptop and duo all the problems i did not have a working laptop for 2 months....for me no more a Clevo laptop.
