Laptop freezes while using Google chrome

Some weeks back, I noticed my laptop freezes every time I use chrome. So I searched on Google and found out this support ticket.
Following this issue, I

  • disabled the chrome's GPU rasterization flag feature.
  • unselected the user hardware acceleration feature.

Everything was okay for a week, now the problem has started again. I checked whether the chrome's flag feature got enabled again. It was disabled.

Another thing I noticed, any desktop application that has a use hardware acceleration whenever available feature freezes my OS.
This is not only happening in Zorin16, I faced the same issue on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Linux Mint Ulyssa.

Here are my device specs:

  • HP 15 da0025tu
  • 8 GB RAM (2400MHz)
  • SATA m.2 256 GB SSD
  • Intel UHD GPU 620
  • Intel i3-8130U (4) @ 3.400GHz

Please note, I downloaded the Google chrome .deb file from their official site.

Did it help?

Oh, I forgot to write the whole problem. Edited the issue again.
To answer you, it worked for a week, but the issue arose again.

I'm no expert regarding Intel cards graphic cards, but you could try update its driver by installing the latest mesa via PPA.
