Latest Update Killed Internet Connectivity

I updated my operating system with the latest update. It's the first update since I've installed the operating system. Everything was working fine until then. Once I updated, I was no longer able to reach the internet with most applications. I installed two or three browsers and none of those browsers were able to reach website. I used my email client and I was unable to connect with the email server.

I generally try to internet search my way through these fixes. So if I'm here that didn't work.

I tried to reboot into the old kernel that did not work. I tried to reboot into recovery mode. I tried to kill a firewall, install a firewall. Neither of those worked.

What is odd is I can install new software but I cannot reach a website. Unfortunately I am limited on my command line at this point, it has been a very, very long time since I have used a Linux operating system and I am fresh out of ideas and how to reach the internet from my computer and any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
If you have been reading recent threads here, you will be aware of issues with kernel 7.0. update.

Which linux kernel are you actually running now?

uname r

One user only met success by choosing previous kernel 6.17.0.35-generic, which not the previous version, but maybe you still have it listed.

@zabadabadoo the Zorin brothers was able to fix the 7.0 kernel there is a post on it here

I initially tried to go back to that kernel and it did not work. But before replying to this, I decided to go try it one more time. And lo and behold, it fixed it. I don't know why it didn't work the first time but now I have internet connection.
