Lenovo Pen Troubles

Hello,
I am having trouble with the pen that came with my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 380, as I cannot get it to work as I need. To describe the issue I can interact with the touchscreen, but once I pull my hand and consequently the pen too far away it won't function afterwards. It will work again though after I move my mouse, but it fails with distance again. I have tried messing with the Wacom Tablet setting, and I haven't gotten really anywhere with it. I have tried a non-electronic pen, and it worked, but only at pulling things, and it won't write. I am a college student and I would like to try to get this one to work, so I don't have to return it.
Any Knowledge to solve what ails this machine spirit Wizard Council?(Any ideas?)

I did look into Touchscreen and pen worked on installation...not the next day - #16 by Aravisian
None of it made sense, and thusly this rookie is stumped.

At your login screen, you can click the gear icon to select logging on on Xorg instead of on Wayland.

What you describe sounds like once the pen leaves the range of Proximity detection, it is set to Suspend State - the compositor fails to reinstate it.
Testing on Xorg (X11) and testing on Wayland is a good first step to try.

Holy! Thank you I didn't expect it, but pressure sensitivity. All of it works, so does it automatically do that? As in every time I turn it on I'll need to do that? Thank you though it still is great.

No, you do not need to select with Display Protocol you are using each time - it will remain set to the last selected one.
