Hi there,
First congratulation for this Zorin Linux distro, potentially the first one for "everyone" and i want to see if i can use it more widely in my company.
I noticed an autonomy issue with a brand new "Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 3 AMD" that should have those performance :
However with Zorin 17.1 i have much less (4 to 5hours for browser surfing with FF or Brave) with those settings :
brightness 1/4
power saving mode
dark theme
wifi
Please note that i would prefer a "gui" settings (or if no other option some additional software/driver) rather than command line recommendations. I want to keep it simple for non technical users, where IMHO Zorin is excellent.
I think the problem with Power function being incomplete with the way Gnome devs have developed the system is part of the issue. If you are referring to how to extend the life of the battery with good performance then check this out:
I would also argue that perhaps for organisations wanting things to work from the get-go that they consider purchasing dedicated Linux Notebooks with Plasma as the default DE, and have it configured to look like Windows 10/11 such as the Slimbook:
I did some searching on this and on the developer's Github page was a request for a .deb package. The developer responded that they did not have the time to do it. There is a Snap package available but that creates it's own issues, because Snap is sandboxed from the system and therefore the GUI with version 2.0 is not available.
In terms of rolling out Zorin for business use you could make an image of one machine and use that for roll-out purposes.
For me I would love Zorin to produce an OS with a leaner boot process than systemd.
Also, don't forget to disable autodiscovery of printers before installing any printers. I covered how to do this in the unofficial manual for Zorin 17 Core.
