Hi Everyone! (It's my first post, sorry if it's not in the right category)
I'm looking for advice from you, fellow Zorin enthusiasts.
I'm 52 and I've been using Ubuntu since 2010 and it's the only one I've tried & learned (& love). Unfortunately, and with some pain, Ubuntu is giving me some problems that apparently have no solution or requires tons of extensions; and maybe it's time for a change.
I tried Zorin (from USB) from time to time and feels good, but before I create a new partition and install it (alongside, at least for a while) I want to know if Zorin is pretty much the same as Ubuntu in terms of installing - removing apps, repositories, config, updates, etc.
I mean, I still want to use the commands I know well like 'sudo apt-get install', aupdate/upgrade, add a repo, open a *.deb file to install something, etc; or -just in case- if Zorin comes with Firefox as a snap, can uninstall and add Firefox ESR (my choice) as deb with it's repo... is all that possible?
Well, sorry for this long message and for any typo (I actually speak spanish)
¡Gracias! & greetings from Buenos Aires
As mentioned in the post above, Zorin OS is based on Ubuntu and so all of the commands are the same. One big difference, however, is that the apt command will not install Snaps behind your back.
You can use the snap and flatpak commands to install packages in their respective formats.
When installing programs through the Software store, use the dropdown menu that appears under the "Install" button to select the appropriate source. By default, it will offer Flatpak first, then Snaps and lastly Debian package (labeled as "Zorin OS"). For example:
Firefox already comes installed as a Debian package, so nothing to do here
Another important thing to note is that Zorin OS is based on the previous Long Term Support (LTS) release of Ubuntu. While the current version is at 24.04 (code name "noble"), Zorin OS 17 uses 22.04 (code name "jammy"). Watch out for that when adding third party repositories or following instructions online, as you might be tempted to use the latest version.

I thought you were a native english as your written english is fluent!
As mentioned in previous posts above, all of that is possible in Zorin. So you are the same as me, you prefer using linux distributions that are based on ubuntu.
Here's a graph to get a quick overview of what distro is what. There are of course loads of distributions from more recent times that are not on here.
Yes, You can all that do on Zorin, too because it uses Ubuntu as Base.
Zorin has already added the Mozilla-own Repo and comes so with Firefox as .deb preinstalled. If You prefer the ESR Version, You can install it by Yourself.
Useful tips, just what I was looking! I understand what you said about snap & flatpak and I know that I'm surely missing nice software out there just sticking to deb. May be with Zorin I'll give them a try.
And a great news is knowing that Zorin is based on 22.04. At this point I always prefer 'old' OS & software, but stable and well known.
So, finally, I assume that I can still use forums like 'askubuntu' and similar for advice BUT always looking for 22.04?
Thnx again!
Thnx, freshjeff for your answer. I do speak some english, but I know that one thing is what you think you're writing and other is what people reads!
Amazin graph!
Thank you everyone for your answers!! Making my new partition for Zorin!
One last thing! I still use P2P like aMule. The folder where I have the *.iso of Ubuntu, Lubuntu & ZorinI is shared. I already upload +17GB of Zorin *.iso !!
