At boot, the computer shows the following message:
0.523959] uhci_hcd 0000:00:1a.0: Found HC with no IRQ. Check BIOS/PCI 0000:00:1a.0 setup!
It continues with more... but maybe we should get started with this!
if possible, can you send a picture using your mobile? and are you able to run command lspci
?
I am not sure how to perform this on a MacBook, but this often means that a USB controller needs to be set or configured or enabled in the BIOS settings of the motherboard.
Check this:
I was seeing the same thing on a 2010 MacBook Pro. Pressing escape showed me my luks password prompt and I was able to boot. The following kernel parameter fixed the issue for me:
video=efifb
I still see the error briefly before the graphical boot starts, but everything seems to be working.
Try pressing the ESC button.
Computer boots. But it boots slow. It runs fast tho. I am only trying to make final improvements. Maybe this solves my battery issue. What should I do? Do I need to change something in the BIOS.
Quantify what you mean by "slow" in minutes/seconds.
About 90-120 seconds. Maybe a bit more. With apple os it booted in 20-30 seconds
You can use systemd-analyze blame
to print out the boot processes and see what may be a time hog.
Most of what is there should not be modified - I highly recommend not changing anything without checking very carefully, first. But if there is something there that is misconfigured, the systemd-analyze blame
may show that right away.

sudo systemctl disable NetworkManager-wait-online.service
But over-all, this looks reasonable. You are reaching the plymouth-quit at 28 seconds.
Above you said:
Something is inhibiting after init but before reaching the desktop.
Can we take a look at your fstab file?
cat /etc/fstab
Also, can you provide your boot log?
journalctl -b
cat /etc/fstab

Gday @Lmarazzo
First can i ask you to update your profile to show us which Edition of Zorin OS your using please, this save asking in the future, Thank you.
https://forum.zorin.com/t/how-to-indicate-zorin-edition-in-profile/15375/2
It shows your machine is setting the main drive to read-only, as a fault has occurred.
Was there a power surge?
Is the battery faulty or the changing board within the machine maybe faulty, causing power loss/surge/etc.
Or
Did you make any changes prior to this happening?
Updated profile. Pro version. Zorin OS 16.2
Battery was considerably new when I changed to zorin from mac os. No power surges. However, battery life is short (30 minutes) and a full charge only gets the battery up to 28% max. How can I solve those issues?
You can also reduce your autostart StartUp list, install TLP and use the built in powersaving options. I recommend against Wifi Powersave, though.
Your fstab shows that you could stand to correct your SWAP:
Your boot logs do not show anything amiss...
I checked the first part of the article... but I dont see the same things as in the article... actually... its kinda weird what I see... What is User1000?
