Hello,
I have been having issues running Zorin OS Lite on my MacBook Pros from around 2010. I have two 2009 MacBook Pros, a 2008 MacBook Pro, and two 2010 MacBook Pro. I installed Zorin OS Lite 17.3 on four different drives, and I’m experiencing the same problem on almost all of the computers.
What happens is when I close the lid regardless of the power settings for battery or charger, the computer appears to turn off. However, when I reopen the lid, it turns back on but is frozen on whatever was on the screen when I closed it. At first, I thought it was just an input issue, but I noticed the clock was frozen too, and no external keyboard or mouse has any effect.
If I manually suspend the computer before closing the lid, it wakes up correctly when I open it, so i doubt its a hardware issue as it lid switch apears to work i have the same issue on 5 computers.
The bigger issue is what happens after its frozen. When I restart the computer after it freezes, it just boots into a black screen with only a mouse cursor showing, no matter how long I wait after the Zorin boot logo. The only way I’ve been able to fix this is by removing the drive, putting it in another computer, booting it there, and then moving it back to the original MacBook. This happens on all my macbooks except the 17-inch 2009 MacBook Pro, where I can simply reboot after the freeze without swapping drives.
I’ve searched for a solution but haven’t been able to fix it yet. I’d really appreciate any help in finding a way to fix this issue.
Thank you.
