New user Zorin OS 18 install failed with “E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)”

I am a first time user and I am trying to install Zorin 18 on my laptop but it keeps failing during the install and returned this error "E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)"

Even trying again with Third party drivers unchecked it will still fail to install with the same error.

So I decided to see if Zorin 17.3 will work and it installed perfectly fine even with the Install Third Party Drivers checked. So I am clueless but there must be some sort of issue installing the new version.

My Laptop is a Asus Tuf Gaming A15
Nvidia 1650TI
16GB Ram

I am clueless with what to do as I would rather have the newest version installed. Is there anyway to update the version from 17.3 too 18 without doing a complete reinstall?

Yes, in the app menu is Zorin Upgrader tool, which when run, is able to upgrade Zorin OS 17 to zorin OS 18.

The upgrade tool is still in the testing phase and fails for some users. But you can try it if you want:

If it fails you can try this solution:

Thank you for the replies.
After installing 17.3. I decided to give installing 18 again.
Selected the option to format and install 18 and this time it worked even with third party drivers checked.
Thing is I never got the selection option on boot to select which option I was there when I originally tried to install 18 in the first place.

Do you think it could be down to how 18 interacts with the boot loader or that in the first place that is making people have issues installing 18 completely fresh?

Thank you again for all the help.
