Hi All
Wondering someone can help me.
I have been running Win10 and Zorin on dual boot with separate drives.
Everything was great until an hour ago. Restarted, booted into Zorin and the screen looks like it is in safe mode. In addition to this, there is no internet access.
Any ideas what caused the problem and could someone guide me to sorting it out please?
Yours. Gareth
PS. Win 10 has internet access!
Maybe there was a kernel update? You could try to boot into an older kernel. In the grub menu select Advanced options for Zorin and select an older kernel to boot from to test.
One user reported a similar problem today, and I myself had yesterday the problem that suddenly there was no internet after a reboot.
Hello,
Do you have Fast Startup activated in Power settings in Windows ?
If yes disable it
Hi All
Thanks for the advice.
I have followed instructions and rebooted into 6.17.0-29-Generic
This has worked. The question is, do I now need to go into the same kernel (29) each time, rather than 35?
Sorry for the stupid questions, still trytrying to get used to Linux.
Yours, Gareth
PS. Yes Win10 has been castrated. Just a standalone for 2 apps.
boot into -29 and follow this gude
You can set that kernel as default to boot for a while, and after the next kernel update try the latest kernel again to see if the problem is solved then.
Looks a lot more complicated for dual boot.
Maybe the best way forward for me is to go into advanced until a new kernel comes out?
That would be the easiest option, yes, if you don't mind, and select the older kernel at advanced options because then you wouldn't have to undo it later.
In the grub file it isn´t more complicated for dualboot.
Just change the red marked lines, keep the rest as it is on your system.
And then save the file and run sudo update-grub and reboot. It is important that you have booted with the kernel you like to set as default when you edit grub.
Thanks Forpli and everyone else.
Hopefully a new kernel will be around the corner.
Thanks, Gareth
Only if You want try it: You could install the Liquorix Kernel and see if it works with that:
