No Wifi adapter found in Zorin 17 tried for 16th version also

Good morning.

I just installed Zorin OS 17 Core in my laptop. I came from Windows, with all drivers and adapters working perfectly, but in this case, the WiFi adapter is not found. I'm connecting via ethernet in the meantime I found the solution.

I have been reading a lot of topics, but no one is working for me. I have secure boot disabled. I paste the following output of the sudo lshw -c network command. I can see it detected my WiFi adapter, but then, I can't connect to my home WiFi network, because the WiFi option doesn't appear.

$ sudo lshw -c network
[sudo] password for akash:
  *-network

To finish, I attach one image of the network WiFi settings, and as you can see, the WiFi option doesn't appear.

Thank you in advance, and don't hesitate on contacting me if more information is needed.
Regards.

Did You checked if in the Additional Drivers Tab in Software & Updates are maybe available Drivers for Your Wifi Adapter?

As wifi issues crop up a lot on linux, I have put together a bit of a guide on common troubleshooting steps (including Additional Drivers as @Ponce-De-Leon already mentioned) and advice on what information to provide in your posts to try and help others help you quicker and more accurately.

(please don't reply to that tutorial with your information, post it here)

A key thing would be to know exactly what wifi chip is in your machine (if integrated) or what wifi adaptor dongle you're using (if a USB thingy). If it's integrated but you're not sure what the chip itself is, please provide the exact make and model of your laptop, or desktop motherboard, or whatever device it is you're using.

Hi, Don't know how but suddenly my wifi options is showing now.
Thanks @Ultrabenosaurus @Ponce-De-Leon for your help and suggestion. I didn't saw the wifi is showing or not but may be I tried the command that is mentioned in the troubleshooting may be that works for me. Thanks again.

Are you dual-booting alongside Windows?
When installing ZorinOS did you first switch off FastStartup in Windows Power settings?
Asking because some have found Windows holding onto devices like wifi unless that is done.

No I am not using any other os Zorin OS is my main os and also booting in insecure mode

Did you tried to use the Adapter at different Ports?

Oh, in-built, okay. Did You checked this time if on the Additional Drivers Tab in Software & Updates is maybe a Driver available?

If You should have used Windows before, did the Wifi worked there?

Plz can anyone help me as soon as possible as I am connected using mobile data cable which is difficult for me to remain connected for the long time.

Do you know what your wifi card or chipset is?
It was not listed by your $ sudo lshw -c network screenshot.

I believe RTL810xE is only a ethernet (wired) network card.

Please go to the guide I shared in a previous reply, work through the troubleshooting steps and if they don't work then provide the information it recommends in this thread so other users know what hardware you're using and what steps you've already tried.

Is it maybe the Case that it is broke? Not totally but in a Way that it doesn't work properly.

I don't know what information you are attempting to display, but I can see no info regarding your wifi device, which was the question I asked.

If internal wifi card, what does lspci display?

That's the help / usage instructions for lshw, likely because you didn't type sudo correctly at the start and didn't specify network after the -c so it didn't know what you wanted it to show.

Please provide the following information to help us help you:

  1. What WiFi hardware is in your computer? E.g. model of USB adaptor, model of motherboard / laptop if integrated WiFi chip, etc.
  2. Include the output of the following commands to identify your WiFi hardware and what driver Zorin is trying to use for it:
    • If integrated WiFi: lspci
    • If a USB adaptor: lsusb
    • rfkill list all
    • sudo lshw -C network

Hey man its copy paste error.Sorry its my bad You understood that without sudo how the command will run.

No wifi listed, so can you tell us what wifi card you have from any laptop documentation, or tell us make/model of laptop so the spec can be websearched.
