Passwords in Brave

How can I prevent Brave from asking me for a password every time I start it?

This is pretty common for Chromium Based browsers.
This simplest solution is to modify the Exec line in the browsers .desktop file to
chromium --password-store=basic

For Brave, it is likely

brave-browser --password-store=basic

But you will see the Exec line in your file and see if it currently says brave or brave-browser.

I was about to ask the same question. I seem to be out of my depth on this, as I do not understand the fix you gave. Where would I find the brave .desktop file?

If you wish to go the easy route, you can do this in the brave settings:

EDIT: You can actually just paste this url into your brave browser instead of doing the steps below.

brave://password-manager/settings

Then proceed to step 6.

1. Open the brave browser.
2. Enter the settings (hamburger menu > settings).
3. Click Autofill and passwords in the left menu.
4. Click Password Manager.
5. Click Settings in the left menu again.
6. Uncheck Offer to save passwords and passkeys and it will no longer ask if you want to save credentials.

I did this about a year ago when i used brave, so it should do the trick.

I actually don't remember this ever happening to me , having used Brave and Zorin for years now.

What is the reason for asking the password upon starting a browser? I've only ever encountered password prompts when installing a program from the Software Store, and even there it doesn't ask for it when installing flatpaks.

Ah right, i see now that i missed the point completely! I use vivaldi and it does the same thing, it is also a chromium based browser.

As does mine. Many different methods will work on this one: The goal is just to get the authorization to be recognized and using Wallet, Seahorse, Desktop file, - any will work.
