Problem with zorin 17.3 sound

hello everyone
i have a problem with system sound on zorin core, my sound works perfectly fine in applications but system sounds like startup wont play and when i try test sound in setting it wont work, i dont know what causes this but its really annoying, what can i do to fix this ?

Do you have enabled a start sound? By default there isn't one.

You can take a look here:

Do you have set the slider for system sounds in settings>sound on high volume?

OK. So that is a bit more than a missing Startup sound.
Can you tell us a bit about spec of your machine and which soundcard/s it has?

Do you have PulseAudio installed (should be in the Software store)?
Check soundcard and sound output settings in Pulse Audio look right. If in doubt post a screenshot.

You can also check sound card selected and if any output channels are muted by running alsamixer from terminal.

alsamixer

In alsamixer, hit F6 to list/select soundcards.

hit F5 to show All sound channels
Check if and show [MM] = muted.
Arrow key to navigate to channel and hit "M" to unmute.
If in douubt unmute and increase volume level of all output channels.

If you post screenshot of alsamixer, we may see something else to try.

What for a Source is set in the Settings for sound Output? Is it a built-in Speaker or external? Wireless or wired?

Did you tried it with Pulse Audio Volume Control? You can install it with sudo apt install pavucontrol and when it is installed, open it and go to the Output Tab and the Configuration Tab to check the Settings and choose Your Output Device.

You can see in my screenshot "System Sounds." Make sure thats set to at least 50% as seen here. As other's mentioned, make sure you've chosen the correct output device for your setup.

Using Pulse Audio Volume Control, I can set & adjust my sound in more detail...

You can/select select sounds for your OS, using Tweaks, under the "Sound" dropdown box.
