Anyone tried this on 16.2 with kernel 5.19.15 (or earlier version of 5.19) which I believe is compatible with Ubuntu 20.04?

It is rather easy to install a kernel by tux invader or mainline, and just as simple to remove it. Because of this and the fact that kernels don't overwrite previous kernels, but rather save them since an issue is possible, it is "safe" to try new kernels. If there are any issues and you don't want to deal with them, you can roll back to a previous version from grub and remove the offending kernel.
