As yesterday announced another big password data breach happend.
Thus I wanted to read & ask in the discussion above, but was 1 hour (!) to late.

It would be a lot easier to just start a new thread, instead. Then, when a moderator comes by, it can merge it with the old thread.
This helps keep things nice and tidy for everyone. And, it might be even a good opportunity to assess whether the thread is actually related or not. Just like we also sometimes split conversations when the main topic of the thread has shifted focus.
For instance, the article talks about a data leak of passwords, which would best fit in this other thread about news of this sort:
The other thread that is now closed is a conversation about which password managers are there, which ones you've tried and can recommend, etc.
Dear @zenzen still new to this forum, I do not know the general policy.
If you as moderator team have no problem of additional work or hustle in reading and maybe merging related threads, all fine for me.
As we users are kindly asked to see if there are similar threads (and post there in order to keep the forum neat & tidy), I find it a bit funny that the threads are automatically closed after just 90 days.
In other forums I participate such action does not exist.
Therefore the proposal of a "request to re-open thread" topic.
That article only triggered me - finally - to use a password manager.
Thus I searched and found a thread, where I wanted to read and maybe ask more questions, but it was one hour earlier closed by the forum software.
That's ok, you did nothing wrong!
I'm just saying that it's easier for everyone to start a new topic or reach out to a moderator in order to get an old topic re-opened, than having to periodically scan this one thread which will get lost after a while anyway, and so the cycle begins.
The 90 days rule is just some automated mechanism. I'm sure it can be changed somewhere... but it's a useful feature nonetheless. Since we can always merge threads as needed, it's preferable to start a fresh discussion which invites people to participate much more than an old one with dozens of replies already on it.
In any case, I've reopen that other thread about password managers in case you'd like to share your experience
