Remote Control of Zorin PC

Hello all,

My Zorin 18.1 PC sits behind a firewall. I would like to be able to remotely control it from outside of my home. I typically would use RDP in the Windows world. What is the best most unintrusive way to do this in Linux?

When You go to Settings>System there should be an Option for Remote:

The Firewall could be something that You have to set up depending if it respects the Conncetion with this or nor. If not, You would have to create a Firewall Rule to allow it.

Hi, that is a different call. For that you need HelpWire or TeamViewer for Linux. I helped a forum member in a different country to install printers and Plasma DE. I have tried HelpWire with same forum member but it did not seem to work.

I looked for "TeamViewer" in the Zorin software app and it suggested RustDesk. That might be a good option, don't you think?

I have never seen or tried that. If you go to the TeamViewer website it recognises you are running (GNU/)Linux so you can download the app to install.

Having read bad things about "rust" (It may have nothing to do with RustDesk) I will not be touching any distro that implenents rust.

You could try it. I saw that they offer a .deb File what You can download form their Github Page. As an Alternative, I saw something called AnyDesk.

I have come across AnyDesk on other boards and one of the cons against using it is its pricing. TeamViewer is free for personal use.

When You want it use permanently, they offer also to add their Repo. So, You could get automatic Updates and You wouldn't have to make that manually with checking and downloading their .deb File.
