I am trying to replace the default file manager with Nemo. I have it installed and I have run commands from threads like this with no success.
They ask me to
sudo nano /etc/xdg/autostart/nautilus-autostart.desktop
But the file that opens is empty/not there. Am I missing something very obvious here?
That is a command to restore Nautilus.
Try this post, instead:
I also use Nemo (In fact, I use the Cinnamon desktop) on Zorin. You cannot remove Nautilus from Zorin Core as it is integrated into the desktop. But you can make Nemo the default:
Once you have Nemo installed, please run the following in terminal:
xdg-mime default nemo.desktop inode/directory application/x-gnome-saved-search
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false
gsettings set org.nemo.desktop show-desktop-icons true

Thank you, unfortunately though, that didn't seem to work.
I'm basing this off if I open a dialog box in Discord to select an image for example, it shows up with the below.
This looks like the built in file manager to me. But perhaps that can't be changed?
Oh, that is an FM Modal and cannot be changed.

Ah damn, that's a shame. At least I know.
