Recently installed a 2tb ssd on my desktop and format is ext4. I can add files to it by going through "Other Locations" in Files but it's not showing up within the storage settings within Steam. Has anyone found a solution?
Which version of Steam do you use? Flatpak or .deb?
Flatpak and version 1763795278 for Steam
- Then you have to set up Steam permission in Flatseal.
or
- Use the .deb file of Steam.
It sounds like the secondary SSD may not be properly mounted or formatted for Steam to recognize it. First, check if the SSD is detected by running lsblk in the terminal. If it's not showing up, you may need to mount it manually. You can also try formatting the SSD to ext4 using GParted or another tool. After that, make sure Steam has the correct permissions to access the drive. You can add it as an install location in Steam's settings under "Downloads > Steam Library Folders.
If you're using Steam flatpak, just give Steam the permissions it needs.
Some apps such as Steam always have some issues with Flatpak, for example the flatpak version of Google Chrome needs additional permissions to add website/PWAs icons to your desktop.
Thank you! Just installed the .deb version of Steam and the second ssd is showing without issue.
