... and here is the same machine after upgrading to Zorin OS 17.1 Lite (and also changing the wallpaper).
Wow. Love seeing this post is still alive!
Back after all my exams, and fully ready to serve my newer Linux Enthusiasts/Triers
Currently using Fedora 40 Pre-Release. Its bricking up itself sometimes at higher loads, but other than that, it is just Beautiful. Here's my next contribution to this post
As you can see, its the standard Fedora Wallpaper, but broo the morning one looks insane! Plus, the GNOME 46 style Heads-Up Notification looks even better
As I thought the Reptile Picture is nice You come with this Machine Moster, haha! Very cool Picture. The Icons fits good to that. You should try to create a Theme to this and then pack the Picture, Theme and Icons together.
I can't pack the picture as I don't have the right to do so.
No, no. Only for Demonstration I mean. Is it a free Picture or You have to pay for?
That one is free, but not the dragon/drake cyborg one. I paid for the rights for that one.
Can You make a Link to the free Machine Monster? I would like to take a closer Look on it.
PCLinuxOS 24.04 KDE 5.27.11 on X11 - no systemd, no elogind! My GT440 card arrived today, still had an issue installing and discovered that it did not like using the hotbay! (The hotbay power is via PATA not SATA!).
love this
5.27 is mostly used on another distributions example freebsd family and some not heavy distributions.
Why people sayed 5.27 was the best Desktop?
Why another version people not so happy?
Because a lot of Menus and Plasma styles were written for 5.xx - now things like Tiled Menu won't work on 6 - Plasma just says to contact the creator to upgrade to 6.0. Bleah!
I have to admit, I'm a bit curious about this distro that you've been talking about lately. I particularly like the tag, "The Boomer Distribution" Although I might go for the XFCE desktop instead of KDE.
They also do it in MATE! It has taken me to a new learning curve in the KDE version. No Discover, No Apper, just Synaptic and Konsole. No sudo, just su, password for root, then:
apt-get install [name of package] if it exists.
Currently tried to install LIOS (Linux Intelligent OCR Solution) but think I have foobard it as I installed as root and permissions are root - had to install packages from gitlab but had to sign up for an account before I could access it! Also installed OCRFeeder but nothing happens after clicking on the icon. Pulse audio is present by default, alongside ALSA, but had to use Konsole to install alsa-tools (All the QAS packages, including mixer). Still sounds coming out the wrong speakers! But just glad I am rid of systemd and elogind!
Here is a modified PCLinuxOS made to look like Zorin!:
61 Wallpapers for different distros:
I also might put GhostBSD back on a second drive, this from The Register in November, 2023:
"However, as vast sprawling modern subsystems such as systemd, snap, Wayland, and Flatpak take over more and more of Linux, FreeBSD offers a refuge where you will find traditional Unix sanity. And for now, GhostBSD is by far the easiest way to put it on a PC alongside some other operating systems. ®"
