Should Zorin OS have a Pay-For Version?

A heads up, from the moment this post posts - I am going away for about 6 hours or so.

You have an option to get free or not. The perks you can get if you want the pro version, that thing isn't easy. I see on one post we only have 2 developers for Zorin OS and they are maintaining 3 version? Pro, Core, Lite. I wonder if they are sleeping enough, eating enough, having a work-life balance? How many did buy Pro to help the developers? Our professor said before, its easy to create but its hard to maintain a system. He's talking just a system like an ordinary monitoring or financial system. Our developers here maintaining an "Operating System". When I converted in our currency the price for Pro, it isn't match the price of Adobe Suite. Too low. Why do I compare? Adobe Suite is just a graphic manipulation software. Your computer can live without it. ZorinOS is an Operating system and your computer cannot live without Operating System.

I will pay for Pro but my laptop wants lite. Hahahahah. So, for now, it's in my wishing list. When I already have PC with good specs I'll get it. I want to enjoy it to the fullest when I have one. I can get core, right, but I really do support open source, especially those that prove their worth.

You are so right Rui! The Zorin team puts in a ton of work to make these releases. They are a bit slower to release them then I would like, but at least they are releasing great OS's.

I really respect the fact that you wish to support the dev's, I am :100:% with you for that. To answer your question, pretty much all the mods, including me, have bought PRO for sure, and so have many members.

BTW, please make a post in the Chat About Zorin forum that will be on the subject of your computer purchase. I love talking about hardware, and I am very curious about what kind of computer your planning on. This way we can keep from going off topic in this thread. lol

Nice didn't know it. Why it isn't in the site? Or I just miss it?

Zorin OS 16 LITE has not been released yet. Like I said, Zorins are slow to make releases, but at least they release good stuff when they do. One of the largest topics on the forum, is us folks asking, whens LITE going to get released? I got two funny threads I made on it.

I made one thread in October, and now I got one for November. I am trying to make one thread per month during the holidays. I am really hoping it will release by the time Christmas comes around. I couldn't think of a better Christmas present for Jeff.

Ah okay. Its the Zorin 16. I got confuse with Zorin 16 pro lite(xfce). I'm enjoying Zorin 15.

Zorin OS Ultimate (Zorin 15) or Zorin os Pro (Zorin 16) come with Ultimate / Pro Lite Included.
Zoris OS 16 Pro has been released already and when Zorin OS 16 Pro Lite is released, all current Zorin OS 16 Pro users will get an email with a free download link to Zorin OS 16 lite.

No pressure, by the way , Rui. I am just trying to ensure clarity on that topic.

Don't worry. I'm learning more about the distro I choose. See, the devs are working 4 version. Kudos to them.

As well as Direct Upgrade and... Zorin Grid.

I have no idea...

I bet they have elves.
Either way, when we get antsy about how long a release may take, it is worth remembering...

We have this one! Can donate in any amount. I think of this one because I don't need the Pro version feature but I want to donate, is there any other way and there is!

Correcto Mondo!

Keep in mind however, If you do buy PRO, you will also get PRO Lite when its released. Its up to you. But I am glad you found an option that you like.

elementary OS takes it a step further by supporting Application writers and offers you the choice of how much you want to pay for a suitable application:

Yes, but using Elementary OS is much like sitting in a Jail cell with no view outside.

Thank You for that wish StarTreker, for that would be an awesome Christmas present and a great way to spend 30-45 installing, setting up on Christmas morning before I open any presents.. However, it would also be the best Nov 8th present I've ever received. As well as Nov 9th, 10th...

Rui07, I think we all have a couple DE/distro's we really like. I've hopped, sure you've hopped distro's too, it's natural to see what's out there. My fav 2 have stayed the same for 3, 4 years. Zorin Lite & Mint XFCE. I've dabbled with KDE, went back to Cinnamon, Mate couple times. Just had a 4 month fling with Feren. And outside of ChaletOS (My 1st awesome Linux experience), my other one has been, and I can't see any reason it will never be, is Zorin Lite. For me personally, I find it the BEST Overall... But that's me. For my selfish needs. I want something that's quick, reliable, aesthetically pleasing and just plain ole' works!
I know, I ask too much....lol
