Hello, I am about to switch to Linux and I am browsing distros, trying them in VMs. I loved Zorin OS except one issue. The "Software" is painfully slow, it is broken.
I read some other threads about this issue and they usually blame the GNOME Software center. However, this is not the issue. I simply click on one software in the homepage, wait a while, start up another Debian VM in the meantime, start the same software center in Debian, search for the package, download, use, come to this forum and type this post, and Zorin software center is still loading. I found Mint to also load fast, even faster than Debian. Any way to solve this?
Did You take a Look in the System Monitor if there are some Processes running that need Ressources? Or did You take a Look in the Logs if there might be some Errors?
Following these steps also took a very long time to load, I had to abandon it halfway. I decided to move forward with another distro unfortunately. It seems to work even under rapid operations. I still like Zorin's looks and design philosophy more though.
Hello, I took a look at logs but couldn't see anything interesting I'm not the best with reading logs though, maybe it's just me. With that, I decided to move forward with another distro unfortunately. It seems to work even under rapid operations. I still like Zorin's looks and design philosophy more though.
Maybe you could use Bazaar instead? It's a new software center that just recently got published on Flathub so you will be able to install it from Zorin's software center.
Software Store has always been slow for me, that is nothing new. I've often had the Software Store crash with the usual error preventing updating, unless I run the reinstall gnome software command.
I just learned to live with it, cause there is nothing that can be done about it, because I think its mostly a Gnome thing then anything else.
Reality is, Zorin OS 18 will release soon, and it might use a better software store. We can only hope lol. Don't forget, you can update via the terminal as well, as a backup option.
