I had a problem where after waking up from sleep, the mouse would be stuck,or would move only on the top of the display.
After researching it appears to be becausN100e after making the screen go to sleep and turning it off, there's something wrong in its wakeup sequence.
My solution was to disable the screen turning off, and just let the screen saver make the screen black, using this command:
xset -dpms
It needs to run on login, because reset clears it.

This bug in XFCE has been existing for many years. Not all PCs are affected.
