Can you tell us the specific Toshiba Satellite Model you have.

I was directing you to use a device that can connect to router's home page. You then go to a section which allows you to specify devices by their Hardware ID. Have you tried that?

ifconfig not found

Edit: And now its working! All I've done is repeatedly press what looks like a wifi button (F12) with or without the Fn button, but I tried this many times yesterday with no success

Glad to hear! I'm wondering why "rfkill list" has not shown it.

Yes F12 key is wifi toggle switch on that Toshiba satellite pro NB10t. It is a shame there is no indicator to show whether wifi is set ON or OFF.

This indicates that you do not have net-tools installed. If you had ifconfig -a would have got you the hardware id.

sudo apt install net-tools

Can this informations not be shown by entering "ip a" without installing the old tool?

When I ran ifconfig -a it outputted a lot of info, most of it nonsense, except IP info I suppose.

This post appears to be in a solved state, so I think the OP has got it covered now, they have earned their IPA. :clinking_beer_mugs:
