Hi, Zorin pro user here. I'm trying to synchronize text copied to the clipboard from my PC (running Zorin OS) to my Android device (honor magic 7 pro) using Zorin Connect, but I'm having issues. Here's the situation:
I have Zorin Connect set up on both my PC (Zorin OS) and Android phone, paired and connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
I enabled the Clipboard plugin on both devices as follows:
On the PC: Opened Zorin Connect, selected my Android device, went to settings, and toggled on the Clipboard plugin.
On the Android app: Opened Zorin Connect, tapped the paired PC, went to settings, and enabled the Clipboard option.
I copied text on the PC (Ctrl+C or right-click > Copy), but when I try to paste it on my Android device, the text doesn't appear in the Zorin Connect app or when pasting in other apps.
Additional details:
I'm not sure if I'm missing a step or if there's a specific setting I need to check.
Both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, and other Zorin Connect features (like file transfer) seem to work.
Thanks a lot for additional help, I know I can send a txt file but was wondering a faster option. From smartphone to PC works like a charm.
Does this happen when copying from any running program? You can confirm this by trying to replicate the issue with a simple plain text file to confirm.
If that works, then it's most likely an issue related to the package format in which that application is installed.
You could try it with KDE connect instead of Zorin connect. Few users had also problems with Zorin connect and they were solved by installing KDE connect. Please remove Zorin connect of your PC and smartphone before you install KDE connect (because it causes conflicts when they are installed at the same time). Then install it on your PC and on your smartphone.
But it could be that it doesn't help. In this post a user wrote that Android inhibits clipboard:
Here is an exzerpt from userbase.kde.org about the clipboard plugin in kde connect:
"Clipboard -Share the clipboard between devices.
With this, you can simply copy text from your computer and it will be immediately available to paste on your phone, and vice-versa. This does not work with images though.
Auto-sync on Android 10+
Android 10 prevents apps from accessing the clipboard to prevent malicious apps from accessing your data. This makes the clipboard plugin in KDE Connect uncomfortable to use.
On Android 14, there's a tile in the pull-down menu called "Send clipboard", that can be moved to a convenient slot (e.g. in the partial pull-down section)."
Some clipboard managers only work in Xorg. You could try if switching to Xorg helps.
