I'm typically forgetting to swap keyboard layouts. So when I open Main menu and start typing Cyrillic gibberish, I need to press ctrl+A, del, and type once again in English. The problem is that neither of text shortcuts is working in the main menu (copy and paste too). Did anyone else also notice that bug?
Just to be clear, are you needing the applications to appear as Cyrillic in the Menu?
No, I need to be able to use the "select all" shortcut (ctrl+a) while using Cyrillic layout. Currently, I can't do that.
It works fine everywhere else in the system, but not in the Menu. I hope I explained it clearly.

I'm guessing that the Unicode for either the Ctrl or the A characters is different, despite looking the same visually.
Indeed, I just tested by running the ord function in Python and switching characters. a in English and other languages comes back as the expected 97, as per the original ASCII table, but a in Macedonian comes back as 1072.
Either way, I think this can be considered a bug. Perhaps we should change the category to Feedback so that the devs spot this easily?

Thanks for the explanation. I want to add that I don't type Russian "A" for the ctrl + A shortcut, but type the "Ф" letter that locates right where English "A" is. Accordingly, typing ctrl+russian_A would result ctrl+F shortcut. That's normal behavior.
Forgive me for not using correct formatting for the shortcuts, I didn't find how to
Main Menu (aka Alacarte) was not written by the Devs. It is a third party application, crafted to slot into what comes with Zorin.

It's all about the characters, not the keyboard position. It's no different than the accented version of a that languages like Spanish or Portuguese use; they may look the similar but the character á is technically different. Even identical looking characters can have different unicode which can happen on different languages.
In this case, the character Ф translates to 1097, even though it's physically mapped to where the a character is on many other keyboard layouts, whereas the character A translates to 65. My guess is that the Zorin Menu is only checking for this one character.
So yeah, something for the devs to look into with more detail. Although I don't blame them at all, text is actually a quite complex topic.

PS: To format some text keys you can use the following format <kbd>some text</kbd> which looks like some text. There's no button for it tough, you have to type it manually.
