I'm sorry I wasn't clear: https://www.youtube.com/@SwitchedtoLinux
...is a YouTube channel which usually recommends Mint as the best starter-Linux distro and rarely ever mentions Zorin, except when talking about statistics.
InfinityGalactic is another YouTube channel that actually showcased Zorin, that could do with some encouragement. https://www.youtube.com/@InfinitelyGalactic
The creator, of Switched to Linux, has his own personal views, which he will mention, but a lot of people (like me) will find his channel because of the name. He is really good about interacting with commentors, so I think encouraging him to actually trial Zorin as his daily drive for a bit could help get exposure.
We need to make this a community sponsored reality!
What we need:
A dedicated thread in the forum "0Picass0's Challenge: 2025 the Year of Zorin"
To onboard @StarTreker to the project, we will need their bubbling personality and vivacity to keep the project going long term.
A first post that introduces the basic concept of the Challenge "Let's get the word out about Zorin in 2025!" and the rules of the Challenge, ie Did you mention Zorin in a comment on a social media platform, did you create content about Zorin, etc., then post a screen shot or link to gain FAME in the Challenge thread and become the envy of the Forum!
A cool acronym for the community / sponsors / participants of the challenge. Something like FoZ (Friends of Zorin) but much cooler.
Welcome to Zorin OS headquarters!
Our office is open 24/7, because our amazing team of experts, are always available to assist you.
At Zorin OS, we believe that everybody should have the equal opportunity, to have an OS that works for you.
Our mission statement, to bring Zorin OS to everybody in the world, may it provide the freedom you seek with the philosophy of FOSS. In doing so, provide all the necessary tools, to get your daily work done, as well as your gaming for pleasure.
I think that is a pretty cool idea, although some people might prefer to stay anonymous, there are always Ways and Means to get things done. There is a lot of chatter about Steam and gaming at the moment, and I would love to see some knowledgeable input from the gamers on here...
Excuse me for now, it is late here and I am using the BT keyboard for my entertainment system... cannot type normally will reply tomorrow.
It sounds like a great idea! I already recommended Zorin to others, mostly on Reddit. And it's true that I don't see it mentioned as often as Linux Mint is (or Pop OS), and I don't understand why since Zorin seems much more appealing, especially visually.
Well, I'm hoping that Zorin_OS becomes the future for many Windows users (and I know lots of members feel the same way), so by promoting it I hope we have a small but significant effect on "the future of Windows", by demonstrating that there really is a viable Linux distro that is very easy to switch to. So we're not really hijacking the thread, are we?
What I meant by "different personas" is just that many people have multiple email accounts that they use for different things, and if you also use different devices it makes finger-printing more difficult, and cross-site tracking impossible (at least that's the idea).
Unless it's Google! Even though I have an un-Googled smartphone it is still somehow recognising me and offers me to enter sites with my gmail ID or continue without. I don't do any social media and on other forums I use this avatar:
Rather than YouTube or uncensored Odysee, I prefer tilvids.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of data points that can be used to analyze any given person's interactions in the web. Companies like Google & friends have poured in a lot of money to develop algorithms that are highly effective at this, and at scale.
Anywhere from your style of typing to the way you hold your phone can be enough to uniquely identify you.
