I am not here to promote any company or do any advertisement just want to share my honest experience with a browser that has truly impressed me on Zorin OS: Vivaldi
Here is why I think you should give it a try:
Powerful Features: It comes packed with built-in tools that you won't find in most other browsers
Superior Ad & Tracker Blocker: The native ad-blocking and anti-tracking features are exceptionally strong, keeping your browsing clean and private
Smooth YouTube Experience: Since the latest update, watching YouTube has become incredibly smooth and enjoyable.
Seamless Mobile Sync: It connects perfectly with your phone, making it very easy to stay synced across devices
Privacy under Strict Law: It operates under Iceland’s strict privacy laws, ensuring your data remains yours and is never misused.
I am sharing this because it runs flawlessly on my i5 system with 8GB RAM Again, this is not an ad—I just believe that if you value your privacy and want a feature-rich experience, you should definitely try it once. If you like it, keep it; otherwise, the choice is yours!"
Haha, you got me! Even though it’s Chromium, I trust Vivaldi because it doesn't steal data, build user profiles, or spy on you. It’s a reliable browser that doesn't feed Google. However, Firefox still remains my primary browser
Vivaldi protected some portions of the UI as proprietary due to the development costs that went into it.
I support open source, but this does not make proprietary the villain.
Without financial security, development can cease.
Vivaldi's case of use is understandable and debatable and I am not going to debate it, here.
I will say it is understandable to a point I do not consider it a black mark.
If you were looking for an alternative to Firefox in order to ensure diversity in engines and keeping monopolies busted up - Vivaldi is a strong choice.
Better than Brave Browser, IMO - it is less contentious than Brave is.
I'm glad we agree that Vivaldi is a cleaner choice than Brave. To me, Vivaldi hasn't shown any 'black marks' yet.
Just to be clear, I am not debating with you, I am just sharing my perspective as a user. My point is, if you truly support Open Source, then we must support Firefox more than anything else to keep the web diverse and free from monopolies While Vivaldi is a strong and trustworthy alternative, Firefox remains the core of the open web."
Vivaldi is truly a unique offering in the browser world. My biggest problem with it is that it's so powerful and has so many features, it's a bit confusing to use. But that's mostly on me not taking the time to learn it.
I recently changed from SR Iron on my phone because it started using Bing and Co-Pilot all the time. Why did I install another Browser as well as the default Bromite Browser on the 'phone? Sadly it has one weakness. If I open another tab or open my Vimeo app to copy and paste into a post on here, it throws a wobbly and comes up with anything but 'paste', so I have to save a reply in default browser, then open second browser by default now Vivaldi, and finish off the post in Vivaldi. (On a side note I have discovered another what appears to be a good browser on the phone 'Fulguris' on F-Droid; just been updated, the search engines available are:
Ask - why? don't ask me! Pun intended!
Baidu - why this is even present is beyond me.
Brave
DuckDuckGo
DuckDuckGo (no java script)
DuckDuckGo Lite
DuckDuckGo Lite (no java script)
:? have a search engine that censors your searches?
Ecosia
Ekoru
Mojeek (yay!)
Naver (Naver heard of it!)
Qwant - no thanks
Qwant Lite - no thanks
Searx (what the default browser uses by default but I changed this to Mojeek)
StartPage - no thanks
StartPage mobile - no thanks
Yahoo - no
Yahoo Lite - and no!
Yandex - no])
Your source actually contradicts the " senior executive in the technology sector's" claims.
Sadly, that is as far as I will go, as while this is a tech subject, it dives deeply into Politics, more than it does meritorious arguments. Which any reader of the posted source link will quickly glean, soon after starting to read.
I... do not have much faith in USA investigations, these days.
