Well, not being much of a customization maniac myself, I have to say this was probably the first icon set that I really enjoyed so I think the least I can do is show some support for your work. Not sure how Devianart or Pling work but if the switch to the new platform works for you, then I agree with the decision.
Btw, what is new in verion 2.2.1? I would love to see a changelog if you have one available.
