Still failing for me as well :frowning: I need to update my distro!

highly confused, says it should be up but isn't. i managed to sneak in actually getting updates that was needed, but then it went right back to this after. what the hell is going on with it? and how does the problem persist for 4-5 days? on the bright side, made me figure out how to change mirrors. As I had forgotten to do that on Zorin and was apparently on the American ones and not the Norwegian ones. not that changeing helped tho. but might help with speed when the PPA servers are actually functioning again. This is odd, and rather unfortunate.

Unfortunately, the problem is still on... I didn't know canonical was under attack...

Here is the translation of the error messages from Dutch to English:

W: Failed to fetch https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/apps/ubuntu/dists/noble/InRelease Could not connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:443 (185.125.190.80). - connect (111: Connection refused)
W: Failed to fetch https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/drivers/ubuntu/dists/noble/InRelease Could not connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:https:
W: Failed to fetch https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/patches/ubuntu/dists/noble/InRelease Could not connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:https:
W: Failed to fetch https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/zorinos/stable/ubuntu/dists/noble/InRelease Could not connect to ppa.launchpadcontent.net:https:

What this means:
Your system is trying to update software lists from the Zorin OS repositories (specifically for the "noble" version of Ubuntu), but the server at ppa.launchpadcontent.net is actively refusing the connection. This often happens if:

  • You are not running Zorin OS but have its repositories added to your system.
  • The Zorin servers are temporarily down.
  • Your network is blocking access to that specific IP address.

When You scoll down here:

to the end, You should see more.

Yes, that means that it doesn't work yet. We need to have more Patience. Depending how intense it was, the Control Process could take a While. Maybe Hardware is needed to change. At the End, we have to wait.

thanks

Still down, been down am and just now today 05 May 2026

As of this morning....for me anyways the updates and terminal updates are back to normal...This was at 7 am cdt

I have now mixed Experience. Somtimes it runs and sometimes the Launchpad Stuff doesn't work. We will have to wait a bit longer.

A statement regarding the Canonical / Ubuntu servers and lack of updates should be posted on the Zorin Home Pgae.

The inability to maintain updates affects evryone.

Regards, Charles

Just an FYI... I was able to execute a "sudo apt update" without any errors this evening.

I had a lot of problems with it, but I used IA and resolve it. In the end I does it:

I have switched download sources multiple times and cannot update Zorin OS 18.1. I get a 1782 lock problem and the next attempt I get a connection but the message I see is other updates are needed and a restart is needed. After restart updates are not happening. I moved my source to clarkston which usually fixes problems but no joy.

know it's somewhat of an unprofessional solution, but it might work, especially since you're using Zorin now. Have you tried entering the error into your preferred AI and asking the right questions? It can guide you toward a solution. That's how I resolved my own issues with updates and even with the Zorin installation.

Workarround for connection issues while updating that is doing fine for some days:

  • setting up an transparent vpn that ends up in uk for running the updates, then switch back to your usual setup
  • launchpad is reachable und packages are downloaded
  • software is doing fine as well with this workarround, no more hickups

I have tried several different VPN configurations, even transparent that where ending in .de - this did not work well

Looks like canocial is droping of certain ips, which is a mass.
