Should I be using wayland on 18.1? I have read a lot saying it is "better" but I keep running into issues where the Brave AI says to switch to xorg(X11?). It seems like this has been a topic for discussion in the past although to most up to date seems to be feb '25. TIA
Try both and go with the one that works better on your computer. It depends partly on the hardware, but also on the apps. Some apps work better or only work under X11 (Xorg), while others work only under Wayland. Since you can switch at any time, it's a good idea to see if it runs better under Xorg/Wayland if there is a problem with something.
For many users, especially those with older hardware, Xorg works better.

Additionally, I have learned on another forum (slightly off-topic here), is that Flatpak 2 is just around the corner and will be using Rust on systemd based OS's. So this may definitely push me away if adopted by the only systemd OS I consider using. That said it does not come with Flatpak pre-installed like Zorin does, it offers the option to install Flatpak after the main installation, not with it.
''Better'' is a difficult Word.
Maybe we should take a closer Look what these Issues are to see if a Switch would help or not. Could You describe Your Issues please? And maybe add Your Hardware Specs, too just for the Case they should be neccessary.

I am in a thorn between Wayland and Xorg. Xorg for gaming is just much better out of the box for me, both on my intel core ultra 5 225H and on my ryzen 5 5600GT.
With that said, browser and desktop feels much smoother on Wayland for me. The only thing that bothers me is that sharing screen always require an extra step now.
I hope wayland improves for Zorin OS 19 with Gnome 50 or whatever they choose to use.
In my opinion, try both. I measured the energy use for X11 and Wayland and I did not notice a huge difference. Wayland is supposed to be more optimized, but I think it is not there yet.
well i can say wayland works well with gnome 50 and the rust coding as i also use Ubuntu 26.04 which has gnome 50 and the more current mesa drivers and the nvidia vid cards dont need to use the nvidia drivers either they get vulkan drivers installed as well. many will say rust and gnome 50 isnt worth it i like it works well and no need to switch back and forth. now this isnt an ad for ubuntu im just learning all the new stuff it intails as i have heard(not sure its true) zorin 19 will be using 26.04 so ill be ahead of the command curve.....
