Star Wars Jedi Survivor runs much better for me on Linux then it ever did on Windows :joy:. Settings are set at high, dlss turned off otherwise its playing like it did in Windows :joy:.

I was silly enough to pay for Canon Fodder from GOG on my Windows 7 (when I have the original Amiga version). I also have a Crazy Amiga Format Christmas Floppy of Canon Soccer - this is where the crazy guys made a Cross-over of Canon Fodder with Sensible Soccer!
Absolute scream!

I still have a lot of Windows games that I promised myself I would play when I retired, Wing Commander series

... and then came the Wii that my two offspring were saving their gold stars for good behaviour, good routines, and was hated by them both for unlocking all the tracks in Mario Kart!

And then ... came the PS4, and my eldest's fiance put BLR on it for me thinking I would like it. I'm obsessed by it! (Blacklight: Retribution, my favourite game being Domination). I wanted my moniker that I have on here when I signed up to PlayStation - but can you believe it? It was already in use!!!!! So I am Swarfendor437010 on PSN.

Looks like a tough boss fight, double saber Darth Mall style, ready to kick some sith butt. Looks like a neat Star Wars game. Thanks for staring.

I also still play classics that are 15-years old or more too, not just new stuff. I'm currently playing Halo Reach.

Magnificent sight to behold!

Finished Star Wars Jedi Survivor 1 hour ago under linux, the story is absolutely amazing/great. However i do dislike companies that adds denuvu and keep the game unfixed for 1 and half year!

That being said:

Performance is better in linux then in windows. The galaxy map lags like …. under windows 11. In linux it’s running perfectly fine. The only thing that ran better in windows with this game are the loading screens :joy:.

For people who are thinking to purchase it, wait for a good discount. Don’t support companies that take your money, don’t fix their stuff and put a big middle finger to the pc gaming community. Denuvu got removed 3 weeks ago, the gameplay got improved alot since it got deleted. Same thing happend with Jedi Fallen order back then.

I hate games that have anti cheat included, none of those games work on Linux. Im also getting tired of gaming developers basing every buisiness descision they make, on Wimdows. Sorry, but Windows is not the only player in town, im tired of them acting like it is. Stop using anti cheat, start supporting other OS's like Linux, no BS. Im glad SWS plays decent, infact better, on Linux. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

While I have a large collection of games, most leased from Steam and a large majority retro (Amiga and SNES specifally), about the only game I play regularly on Linux when not spending time in the retro gaming world is Overwatch. If it wasn't for Valve, I probably would still be suffering in Microsoft's tyrannical world.

Not true. Are We Anti-Cheat Yet? lists 545 games with an anti-cheat system. Of them, 278 either have developers who've said they support running the game on Linux, or who've said nothing, but the game works anyway. That's actually a slim majority, compared to 263 that don't work or have had devs flatly refuse to enable their games to work in Linux. Of course, situations change: GTA V recently went from supported on Steam Deck to unsupported because of an anti-cheat change.

In publicly playable games where a stranger can affect your experience, that's just not an option. There are options for anti-cheat that work in user space and are Proton viable, as my link and numbers above demonstrate, but cheaters and would-be cheaters abound. As someone who works directly in this space, I can promise you, publishers would love to stop using anti-cheats altogether. They cost money to license or develop without adding gameplay features they can advertise or monetize. Like QA, it's a necessary expense that they'd be perfectly happy to cut if they could—but doing so would result in so many cheaters and so many complaints players WOULD leave many games in droves. NDAs and all; I can't cite things I've heard at work, but on occasions where an update to anti-cheat breaks a cheat that's been plaguing the community, players DO notice the drop in cheating enough to talk about it.

Don't get me wrong: there are tons of ways to do anti-cheat wrong, badly, or in generally player hostile fashions, and I hate getting shut out of games because of anti-cheat too. But as long as players can hook libraries without consequence, they'll find ways to ruin honest players' experiences.

Honestly, the best way to get developers to pay more attention to Linux is to play games on Steam Deck. Regardless of one's opinions about SteamOS, a fair few developers do actively pursue Steam Deck verification, and the more players who buy it there, the better. The next best way is to take part in Steam's system surveys, even if you don't want to game on Steam. It's where devlopers' eyes are, and the larger the slice of the pie chart for Proton is, the more they'll want it.

In unrelated news, the actual reason I came into this thread was to point out that Metaphor Re: Fantazio, a fantasy JRPG from the folks behind the last three Persona games, has a demo up on Steam. I've checked and it does run in Linux. Definitely looking forward to that.

I started to game on a Amiga A500 and Nintentdo 8-bit / Super Nintendo....good old days. I had alot of fun with the Amiga back in the old days, tried cannon fodder a few months ago running a emulator (winuae), worked great but these games are not my thing anymore sadly. The games i play are running perfectly fine under linux.

Halo Master Chief Collect, Mass Effect Legendary Edition (Or the classic versions from those), Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order/Jedi Survivor and so on. I can't really complain.

The things i did in windows (surfing/gaming) i can do in linux too. :joy:

I do WoW, Star Trek Online, and I'm about to take the plunge and try modded skyrim in Zorin.

i play counter strike... touhou and just that.
the most ive played is touhou with the sakuya main

Purchased a few games today/yesterday. Outcast i never played in the past and this one is the remastered version of the original. Hope i like it, God of light is a game i played alot on my mobile phone. Everreach looks a bit like mass effect 1, it does get smashed on steam reviews but looking at a video how the game plays made me decide to give this game a try for the small amount of money.

Great deals.

This game i bought last week, similar gameplay as Company of Heroes

My list looks like this now:

Hope this game will be released next year. Made by ex bioware. Bioware is known for their great stories in games (Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect series and Dragon Age series).

The trailer already got me, story wise.

The games I've been playing recently on linux are Undertale Yellow, Minecraft, Portal and Pizza Tower.

Minecraft and Portal have native linux versions (except the bedrock edition of minecraft, which isn't a big problem, as it's known to be a glitchy mess and doesn't offer much new compared to the java edition that does support linux). Pizza tower works OOTB with proton, and undertale yellow with wine.

Whenever I see people say that linux gaming isn't ready because of anti-cheats, I consider myself lucky about being more into offline games, which are usually well supported by proton/wine. Only online game I've felt interest towards in the last decade has been super mario maker, which isn't even available on PC, so windows has no excuse to stay on my computer for gaming.
