What games do you play on Linux?

What game is that ? Not mass effect.

Yes sir, this ship is indeed, from Mass Effect. I am going to post a truly amazing and thorough explanation, about this very ship, for those who are not in the know.

Congratulations, you are now an expert, on the Normandy class Deep Scout Stealth Frigate.

Hach, the Normandy ... That was a Ship. I liked Mass Effect 1-3.

I know it is the Normandy SR2 and not the Normandy SR1 video you posted later , the SR2 is a heavy stealth frigate.

The screenshot is not from the mass effect game. Is it a mod for another game ?

I am playing a new to me game called TreePang2. For those like me who prefer to play boomer shooters, cause their way more fun, and don't push real life political or social agendas, give this one a try.

Also, if you really enjoyed the F.E.A.R game franchise, this is a modern version of those games, finally someone took on the mantle after nearly 20 years of waiting! The graphics are really excellent.

Sound design is pretty good too, and the gameplay is also fun. I can recommend this game so far!

It was 17.99 minux tax for me btw.

@StarTreker: Finished that game a few months ago, it’s a nice mix of F.E.A.R. and Doom. Did not purchase the DLC that got released a few months ago but this game is very good. Hard mode is really hard :joy: Enjoy!

After playing 6-hours of the game, using a stealthy approach in the beginning, cause thats the way I role when given the option, then using the weapons, which the game practically forces me to do through the rest of it pretty much lol. At first, all of it was fairly easy.

Then when I got to the hospital map, I started picking up real quick, that Horizon were not on the level, I mean, whats with with all those body bags? LOL! Then as you get deeper, you learn that this is the typical story of crazy doctor, and his crazy experiments, sacrificing lives.

I tell you what, crazy mad science research, equals crazy results. Now, paging Dr. Emerson, why don't he pick up the phone? Thats cause he's dead, his clean up crew put a hit on their own guy. Did they really think they were going to cover this up?

All that acid all over the floors and walls, secretions of I don't even wanna know. Oh lets go to the basement, everything will be fine. Sure, if you want to call monsters that get back up after you shoot them fine. You know what Samual L Jackson says about that don't ya? LOL!

And then finally we get to the Mothman, cause of course, what monster scenario would be complete without a Mothman, who is filled with green goo acid spitting, terrifying large winged Mothman?

Now, the basement for me, is when this game was getting really difficult. Just picking up the non-deying acid monsters, to toss them into the mad scientist doctors reactors, was a real PITA. Then finally dealing with the Mothman for good up on the roof.

I tell you what, a few deaths later, I realized what I needed to do, was go on an all out assault on that mega health Mothman. Shot gun up his grills, sub machine to tear him down, and 5 lovely grenades for good measure, to give him the what for.

After 6-hours, I am taking a break, going to eat food, and watch youtube. I will play more tomorrow lol. Wow, this game is amazing, I love TrePang2!

Purchased Star Wars Dark Forces Remastered, what a great game! Only saw the classic game when i whas a kid and watched my father playing the original back in the late 90’s. In linux it runs so smooth and i totally love it. Playing on hardest difficulty which is pretty easy :joy:

New vs Old:

Finished it on Hard mode, this game is a master piece! very nice remastered.

I just bought Diablo 4 and DLC on sale. It's not that bad that the fanbase give it credit for. It's different, yes. My favorite is Diablo 3 though.

It gets a lot worse in the endgame. I enjoyed the campaign a lot, but seasonal play has been pretty meh in all respects for me, and after Vessel of Hatred, with spiritborn as broken as they are, even on Torment 4 (maximum difficulty), we had builds that were killing the most difficult summoned bosses in under a second, leaving basically nothing to actually do. A number of the new mythic unique items are very good, and others are so bad they just have no build that makes them work.

All that doom and gloom aside though, I reiterate that I enjoyed the campaign a lot, both for the base game and Vessel of Hatred, and will keep getting any further expansions they release. I just won't expect to keep playing after finishing the campaign anymore.

Currently i play Mass Effect Legendary Edition and Iron Harvest. Mass Effect Legendary Edition runs perfectly fine under linux. Not a single issue.

Currently im play "Manor Lords" and works well with protondb without any changes on Zorin 17.

Also Football Manager 2024 works well

Mainly I play World of WarCraft Classic Hardcore, HearthStone, Cities Skylines 2 and Civilization 6.

But really, aside from a few exceptions, one can play whatever one wants on Linux these days. Lutris+Wine and Steam+Proton are incredible at running anything that isn't coded for Linux.

FYI I'm on Zorin 17.2.

Lutris does use proton too these days. 0.5.17 supports it, the newer update 0.5.18 broke it for me so i have to see how to fix it when i have time. Otherwise i rollback to the previous version but i like to find things out :grimacing:

As for steam, i use it for almost everything. Last week i installed the ea app on it because lutris had alot of issues getting the app to run with proton. Will try epic games too within steam, if that works then lutris will be useless for me.

Edit: Removed the enitre lutris folder in /home/YOURUSERNAME/.local/share/lutris/ and the proton issue has been fixed in 0.5.18
