Whatsdesk - 'Unable to find /snap/Snap Store/ io.snapcraft....'

Installed Whatsdesk. It won't run. I get error messages that I attach as screenshots as I can't copy and paste the texts. I have installed snapd as per the Zorin documentation.

Apologies in advance if I've missed something obvious and thanks for any recommendations and pointers.

There is no official support for whatsapp in linux. The snap is not very up-to-date (last update 2021) and isolated from the normal system. This can cause problems when it doesn't bring along the right dependencies.

You can also use the web version of whatsapp in your browser. This runs perhaps more smoothly: web.whatsapp.com.
But you can make no voice calls or video calls neither with the web version nor with the PWAs like whatsdesk.

You can take a look at this older threads

For linux it would be better to use another program to make voice calls or videocalls.

I'm surprised anyone would wish to use Whatsapp or anything that is spawned by Meta.

When working from home during lockdown and beyond I refused to use either Teams or WhatsApp. My workbase caved in when I demanded the use of https://meet.jit.si.

@swarfendor437 I use WhatsApp because all my family members and friends use it and I'm otherwise excluded and don't get any messages or photos sent to me or in status - even though I don't like it at all for privacy reasons.

There's a Debian package as well that you can download, instead of the Snap package:

Since it's an unofficial client I should point out that you should be careful with what you run in your computer. For WhatsApp, there's already a web-based client that you could use and it wouldn't be much different than this, since it's an Electron-based wrapper (which essentially is an instance of the Chromium browser that powers a single app).

Yeah, unfortunately is one of those things we must do even if we don't want to... people are very resistant to change something they've been using daily for the past 15 years.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Appreciated. Can assure you that I don't 'want' to use Whatsapp. Tried in vain to induce everyone to use Signal but everyone's groups are in Whatsapp and so on and so forth.
