I check the Zorin upgrade tool daily, and I'm disappointed every day by the lack of new updates.
When can we upgrade to Zorin OS 18? Is there a specific date?
I'm looking forward to that day.

I think they said "next few weeks" or something like that. I also recall they said there'd be an email when it became available, like there was about the non-beta version a week or so back. Just need to be patient a while longer: 17.3 works pretty well until then.
Patience, patience ![]()
I'm on OS 16 with no longer security update support. The only thing keeping me safe right now, is Linux inherent more secure then Windows sandbox policy, as well as my hardware firewall.
While I do indeed try to be patient, I must admit I have greater need, then those on OS 17, who still receive security and kernel updates, till 2027.
Hopefully, the OS 18 upgrade will come before the turkey's end up on our plate next month, and before Santa Clause delivers me my first air fryer.
But can you upgrade from version 16 to 18 directly? ![]()
Zoren dev, I think Artyom, responded to the 411 on that, said yes I could, so I call that confirmed.
That's actually pretty good to know... make sure to document the process, I'm sure it will come up at some point in the forums ![]()
I understood that you first have to upgrade to 17 and then to 18, but you don't have to purchase a license for 17 because it is contained in the Zorin 18 pro license.
I wish I could find that post. One of the major issues I have with this site, is once the information gets buried, good luck finding it, if you personally forgot it, cause the search box won't find it. I even went to Artyom's profile, to try and find his post on it, all his posts are outdated since Alpha release, I giveup!
I suppose will see what happens once the upgrader is ready. Even if the upgrader, upgrades to OS 17 first, big deal, I won't do a thing, before I start the upgrader up again, and the upgrade to OS 18, lets not get caught up in symantics. But I could have sworn he said, its all integraded, and will handle it.
Like I said, there are better sites with better search functionality. I even have serious issues finding one of my own threads, unless I input the exact search terminology perfectly, just to find my freaking how to post, on using external drives with Steam using Flatseal!
I am referencing it all the time cause obviously new members never find it, maybe I should bookmark it! This site could really use a new competent search tool if you asked me.
You can find your How To guide fast when you click on your forum's profile, go to >activity >topics, there scroll down until "How to setup external drives"
But I understand what you mean. I often know, there was a post/thread recently, and I don't find it. I also searched for Artyoms post and couldn't find it.
Thanks for the quick tid-bit, it will help me out! Glad we both understand that feeling of can't find that post disorder. ![]()
Now I found it, it was from Kyrill:
Was this what you were looking for?
Up to now, I have been very supportive of Zorin and that upgrades were not available at the same time as the official Zorin 18 release date. It has now been a full month since the release, and I have to admit that I am getting a bit discouraged. We were told this would be available 'in the coming weeks', not the coming months.
At the very least I would expect some communication. I understand that in-place upgrades are very difficult; there are a lot more things that have to be accounted for in upgrades. However, letting us know what is going on, the issues that are holding up the process, and a timeframe when we can expect these issues to be resolved would be nice.
I paid for Pro on version 17 and have already paid for Pro on 18. Good customer service would dictate some communication, at the very least.
I too bought 17 pro and already paid for 18 Pro. I agree that some ongoing communication would be good. However, seeing the various discussion threads about installation issues, I am thinking I am happy to stay on 17 Pro for a few more months until they are all identified and fixes have been identified.
When I installed 17 Pro I had a number of issues related to hardware and software that people like @Aravisian and @Ponce-De-Leon and several others helped me to resolve. Now that I have got it working pretty much the way I want I'm reluctant to jump right in on 18 until some of the rough edges have been at least identified if not fixed.
