This is the only thing stopping me from paying for Zorin Pro. I'm at a loss to get this working.
I'm running Zorin OS 18.1 Core on my headless Unraid machine. My Nvidia GPU is passed through and I can access the VM perfectly through VNC. However, VNC is not hardware-accelerated, and I would prefer to access it through RDP where my other VMs are accessed, as it takes advantage of the GPU and I don't need to download/install other remote desktop software. On the physical GPU, I have a HDMI dummy plug installed. This is working perfectly through RDP when I connect to a Windows VM running on the same machine.
However, when trying to access the Zorin VM, I have a number of issues.
First, RDP connects and asks for credentials. I enter them successfully, and it takes me to the Zorin user login screen. There is a notification on the top banner saying that the connection is insecure, despite the fact that I saved the rdp file with the line 'use redirection server name:i:1', as it suggests.
When I click my username and enter my password, it says that there is already a session open and it gives me an option to force stop the session. It does this despite me starting the VM from scratch and never logging into it beforehand for that session. I click 'force stop', and nothing. The dialog doesn't even disappear, despite repeated clicking.
Sometimes, it actually does disappear and then all I get is a black screen, and RDP crashes. When this happens, even logging in with VNC is not possible, because all I see is a black screen. I have to force shutdown the VM.
Thing I've tried:
- Downloaded Gnome extension manager and downloaded and enabled 'allow locked remote desktop' extension.
- Entering different username/password from my Zorin login credentials in Zorin remote desktop settings.
- RDP from a different Windows machine.
- Setting blank passwords to my Zorin lockin/keyring.
Please help.
