Zorin 17.1 Pro Continuing Wifi problem with a Asus Swift 3 wifi even with a TP-Link Ac600 Nano

Hi Guys. Im at my wits end and have spent hours on this problem. I have 3 other Laptops (yes home use) varying ages and all working fine and upgraded to Zorin 17.1 pro. From day one Ive never been able to get a stable connection of this dam Asus Swift 3 with it continually dropping the wifi despite trying everything thats been suggested here and elsewhere. So seeing that most say the TP-Link Ac600 worked with Linux I brought and installed one. Now I have again come to a dead end. It seems to have been found by Zorin as its showing in the wifi in settings, shows in the wifi but will not show any internet connections and is greyed out when you look at network from the bottom right of the desktop. The dongle is flashing slowly but thats it. The internal card is connected but keeps dropping out.
Here is a dump of lshw c network

Did You looked on the Manufactorer's Website if there are any Documentation for Linux Usage? Manuals? Descriptions? Drivers?

Have You looked in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates if there are any Drivers listed?

Yes I have done all of that. What Ive discovered since I sent the message that there is tiny writing on the bottom of the box of the dongle that says Nano(EU0 Ver 1. From reading onlinwe this should not make a difference since the driver I have downloaded should work 8812AU however some advice about this would be good before i return it. This is not mentioned anywhere on the box as such but just beside the bar code.

Ive followed 2 or three online vidoes regarding installation and they all work with some minor adjustments to the commands that have been updated. it seems to be nearly there but just not finding the wifi router. By the way works perfectly with Windows (Yuck)

Have you tried turning the Router off and on?

Also check that you are using a frequency band supported by the Router. If your Router for example only supports 2.4GHz band, make sure your wifi adapter is not set to a 5GHz channel, or any channel not supported by the Router.

Hi zabadabadoo, Now why havent I thought of that. Thank you for your reminder. I have taken the Ap-Link Ac600 back and swapped it for a T3U thats a AC1300. Spent time getting the right and lastest hack for the driver and at the end same result except that the dongle light is not on. Shows everywhere as being recoginised. Ill try thr reboot of the router. Im not giving up yet.

Just in case there's something here you haven't tried, please take a look through the guide I wrote with common wifi troubleshooting steps:

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your help and replies. Im sorry its taken me so long to get back here but Ive had dam long covid for over 18 months now and sometimes it just hits ne again and lays me low.

Anyway the good news is that Ive finally solved this on our Asus Swift 3.

I purchased a TP-Link ac1300 which still wasnt wporking. After searching and searching I came across an Indian guy speaking indian (so couldnt understand him) but I followed his direction the screen. Interestingly enought he was getting a totally dfferent driver from the Github. Im still not up with ythings properly yet but from memory the driver 88xxfu not bu. Once installed ( and the installation went flawlessly) the AC1300 burst into life and we have not had a problem since. Ive left the wifi drivers for Zorin (Ubuntu) alone so I guess both are running but its perfect. Not slow not dropping out etyc. Perservernce pays off eventually.I cant copy the address here but Ill try and type if for you

tyr and see
