Zorin 17.3 core can't utilize Wifi

Zorin 17.3 core isn't able to use the Wifi on my laptop. I have checked any previous post and don't see anything that addresses the Wifi problem that Zorin 17.3 core has.

I have checked my BIOS and there is no Fast Boot, Fast Startup nor Secure Boot to disable. There is a WIFI function and it is enabled and device is working properly.

I did some terminal commands and found this:

According to rfkill list all:
0: phy0: wireless lan
soft blocked:no
hard blocked:no
1: brcmwl-0: wireless lan
soft blocked:no
hard blocked:no

Then according to sudo lshw -C network

*network
description: wireless interface
product: BCM 4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY
vendor: Broadcom Inc. and susidiaries

bus info: pci@0000:04:00.0
logical name: wlp4s0

width: 64 bits
clock: 33MHz
capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless
Configuration:
broadcast=yes
driver= w10

I also tried an older kernel with no satisfying result. Everything else in Zorin 17.3 core works great on my laptop.

I'm stumped as to why Zorin can't utilize the WIFI. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you try this? Broadcom is a bit special.
Connect your phone with your PC to have internet or connect with ethernet. Then enter in terminal

sudo apt install firmware-b43-installer b43-fwcutter bcmwl-kernel-source

Then reboot and test wifi again.

Welcome to the Forum!

Does Your Machine only have Wifi or do You have the Possibility to use a Cable Connection? If yes, plug in an Ethernet Cable and update Your System. Then look in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab inm Software & Updates if there is a Driver for Your Wifi offered.

Thanks for the reply. No I hadn't tried that. I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did that. And with your suggestion and the other reply suggestion I got the Wifi working. I appreciate the help that both of you provided.

Are you able to mark the post that helped you solve your wifi issue with :white_check_mark:Solution.
But that can be applied to one post only :frowning:

@zabadabadoo he found only @Forpli's solution as working.

So, @rjc you can go ahead and select @Forpli's post as your solution, as that was the one which worked for you!

I have now done that for them. Zab
