Zorin 17.3 Login loop latest update

For the system usability keep the Lite now. And keep checking updates regularly for any fix.

And for the troubleshooting part maybe logs will give some clue where is the issue. First switch to gdm3, then login your system. When you reach the Something went wrong screen, launch terminal or switch to TTY, run the following and share the output links:

sudo tail -n 200 /var/log/syslog | grep -Ei 'gnome|gdm|gpu|drm|error' | nc termbin.com 9999
sudo journalctl -b | grep -Ei 'gnome|gdm|gpu|mutter|wayland|xorg' | tail -n 200 | nc termbin.com 9999

@littlekun HereHere are the links you requested:

Maybe You should think about to do a fresh Install.

Thank you for sharing the logs, however (I should have mentioned it earlier) I am not that experienced to understand such logs properly. I hope some experienced mind will give it a look for analysis.

However I have one doubt, unrelated, how the debian jessie repository present in your system?

packagekitd[2175]: Index of /debian jessie Release is not (yet) available (404 Not Found [IP: 2a04:4e42:8d::644 80])

I don't know why the debian jessie repository is on my system I am a complete beginner

Another user reported that he is able to login by opening tty and entering startx there. If you like, you could try this.

I get the screen of death but more programs load then when I use Xorg

I have exactly the same problem and experience with all offered solutions. Lite does work for me as well.

It all started after a restart when my battery died. So it could be a corrupt file or maybe something new was installed upon restart
